Yumeto

Yumeto and Komaya sneak out of the hospital to go see a concert at Komaya's insistence. During the train ride there, Yumeto is transported to the Digital World, where he is split from the rest of the DigiDestined and discovered by his partner, Elecmon.

Elecmon leads Yumeto back to the others, and the group sets off together. Elecmon tries repeatedly to bond with Yumeto, but between the harshness of the Digital World leaving Yumeto completely drained, and Yumeto’s reluctance to make connections, most of Elecmon’s attempts fall flat.

Because of this, Elecmon begins to grow jealous and his attempts to connect with Yumeto become more desperate, until Yumeto finally confesses to Elecmon about his illness, in hopes that Elecmon will cease his efforts to draw him out.

Instead, Elecmon only grows more possessive of Yumeto, now viewing their time together as a scarcity that should not be wasted on anyone else. His resentment towards the group only grows, until one night, Elecmon convinces Yumeto to live out his final days together with him, instead of journeying across the Digital World to fight evil. Yumeto falls unconscious shortly after agreeing, and Elecmon attempts to sneak him out of camp in the middle of the night as Dorugamon. As they're flying away, Tou and Unimon catch up to them. After a brief scuffle in which Dorugamon evolves into Beelzemon, Beelzemon successfully manages to make off with Yumeto.

Yumeto and Beelzemon travel together for a short while, and though he is still quiet and withdrawn, Yumeto finally comes out of his shell a bit and bonds with Beelzemon. The pair do anything and everything that peaks their interest, making the most of the time that they have together, while Beelzemon covertly searches for a digimon who can heal Yumeto.

Eventually, the group catches up to them, demanding that the two rejoin the group and help save the Digital World. After much arguing that nearly turns physical, Yumeto, now more emotionally vulnerable than ever, tells Beelzemon that he'd like to save the Digital World and go home.

Beelzemon, heartbroken, regresses into Kyaromon and tearfully says he only wants to spend time with Yumeto. Yumeto tells him that he understands, and that there are others at home who feel the same that he'd been pushing away, thinking of his family and Komaya. The rest of the group attempts to comfort Kyaromon by telling him that they're all his friends, too, and he needn't fixate on Yumeto alone.
