Nox is a summoner. A magic shadow spell on their hood conceals their face, (if they even have one) Their staff is a long poled net they use to wrangle the creatures they summon. Also can double as a flying broomstick but its not the best. They're young and a bit smaller than the average person, combine that with not knowing what race they are, makes it hard to tell their age. Nox often gets mistaken for a child despite being equivalent to a human in their late teens.

Personality

Nox is self-assured and laid back usually. They're not boastful, but they dont like being insulted and take offense to rudeness. They'll try to tolerate it as much ass possible, but grow more agitated until they're ready to defend their pride with violence. They have a habit of adding personal comments to conversations under their breath.

Connections

Nox has an intense desire to protect their family, and is fully willing to exterminate threats rather than let them go. Except for the hood they wear and the net they wont let go of, Nox doesnt really care for any other personal items or privacy, having grown up with shared belongings and living spaces.

Drive

Conciously, they dont have a good sense of who they are or what they want to do. Subconciously, they're desperate for a sense of community and friendship to replace what they lost.

Fears

At any moment the eldritch god could return, other illithids could find out about what Nox did and hunt them down, or Nox's guilt could come back to haunt them.

The Children of Darkness

Nox used to be a member of a cult called the Children of Darkness. The cult members are self-proclaimed 'god killers', instead of worshipping gods, they actively hunt down the ancient/eldritch beings of the plane of darkness and try to kill them or seal them away. The cult is nomadic and moves as a travelling caravan with a variety of classes and ages. (also refer to themselves as a 'community') Nox was adopted into the cult as a small child, but they don't consider themself an orphan because they were raised in the tight-knit community. They're mostly-probably-human but they know that's not exactly accurate, since they don't know where they came from.

The cult's elders were in the middle of a mission, hunting down an illithid god when they were defeated by it's clan of mindflayers. The vengeful clan of mindflayers/illithids hunted down the caravan and burnt it down with all of the remaining cult members being slaughtered. Nox was the only surviving member.

In their grief, Nox took the bodies of the cult members and used them as sacrifices to make a pact with the illithid god, to wipe out its own clan of illithids, then banished it to the other plane. Nox feels a lot of guilt over defiling their community's bodies as sacrifices to the sort of creatures they had sworn to destroy instead of giving them proper burials, but its too late now to change what they did.

A New Life In MageTown

Nox was able to salvage their two magical items: the hood from one of the elders' habits and the enchanted net. They intended to travel alone before recieving Magetown's invitation. Its only been a couple of weeks between the slaughter and by the time they reached magetown.

Nox has been pushing down their grief and guilt over losing their community (re: their only family) so they havent allowed themself to feel anything yet. The emotions can come out in intense moments.
