Rupey is one of the many steam mechanics scuttling about the city, but sports the exclusive title of Artificers apprentice.
He has steam burns curling up his arms from a terrible burn when he was first initiated by the Artificer (they/them). Rupey never asked and the Artificer never told but they seemed guilty after the fact, eyes always lingering when Rupey sheds his large metalworking gloves. It was a mix of hot steam and water, searing through the still soft skin on his hands. He must have been around 15 when he was first taken under their wing.
Rupey lives with his mother, and does not care to know his father who left many years ago. His mother works at the markets and from what he’s heard, his father used to be a mechanic of some sort which brings a sick sort of rage every time he draws the comparison. He separates himself from this by making his artificer work artful and full of himself.
