Klaus

Klaus was a mercenary for hire, doing odd jobs to make it by. When news of a sprouting inquisition reached a nearby town he was in, Klaus was originally interested in grabbing some quick work before continuing on. Besides, with the many rifts and demons running around, even centuries old established factions were tearing apart ... why would this little clan fare any better?

Klaus has never been so happy to have been proven wrong. Along with the many interesting folks working for the Inquisition, it was the Inquisitor himself who caught Klaus' eye. He was smitten with Kes and usually accompanied him on many of his endeavors. Klaus was unsure if their relationship was that of close friends or potential lovers.

Klaus became a reliable agent and traveled with the Inquisition when Haven fell. During the battle, Klaus grabbed everything personal of the Inquisitor once Kes flung himself into harm's way to save his army. While Kes returned not too long after, Klaus tirelessly tried to sort and categorize Kes' many, many codexes and notes of the world. After all, these may be all that's left of the great Herald. Fortunately, Kes survived. 

Klaus continued to pursue a relationship with the Inquisitor, feeling as though the two were agonizingly close to confirming a romantic relationship. That's when Kes began to grow closer with a warrior and ex-dungeon rat, Evelyn. Klaus stepped back from Kes once he saw a glimmer in his eye that he never had with Klaus. Kes' heart had chosen his love. Despite his own heartbreak, Klaus couldn't be happier for him. 

Klaus does join the Veilguard. He is painfully aware that Robinette knows of his past with his father. His heart breaks that she has so much rage within her.
