PROFILE

In the long-forgotten history of Remnant, when the dragons guided the land and its people, lived an orphaned girl. This girl grew up in a small desolate village near the Land of Darkness. The people there feared the dragon that made his home deep within the dark rocks, often they left offerings of food to appease the Dragon-God for a good harvest and protection from his wrath. During a fateful season, nearly a quarter of a century after the girl was born, the village lost its harvest to a drought. In a panic to feed their soon to starve citizens, the mage leader of the village deemed it necessary to commit a drastic measure and offer up a human to the Dragon-God in exchange for rain and new food sources. Seeing as no family wished to offer one of their own, the village turned on the orphan girl. Chaining her up in magic infused cuffs, they dragged her on foot for nearly a week to the base of the Dragon-God's shrine. They poked and prodded her with makeshift spears and swords up the stairs until they too would not go any further into the Dragon-God's domain. Fearing that the villagers she lived next to for her entire life would kill her if she ran back down the stairs, she turned back towards the upwards slope and walked to her fate herself.

The girl didn't know what to expect when she entered the dragon's domain, perhaps a large reptile ready to strike, rip, and tear her to shreds? But when nothing was seen with a wary look around, she descended into the crater with careful, silent steps. Eventually, she reached the edge of an oily pool of liquid, she looked deep into its reflection to see herself, ragged and weary, cuffed to a fate she didn't choose for herself.

"A mortal? Here?"

A masculine voice spoke to the girl, loud and echoing around the shrine. The fright she felt in that moment knocked her down - frozen in fear as she sat on the ground looking for the source. At first, she did not see anything new in the environment around her, until the noise of boiling bubbles from the pool in front of her caught her attention. Slowly and methodically like a King Taijitu emerging from its den, pure purple horns rose from the liquid followed shortly by the back of a masculine form. The girl could only watch, body still frozen in place as the being in front of her contorts in impossible ways as it gets closer to her. Regaining her focus as the being was nearly on top of her, she began to scoot backward and quickly threw out her cuffed hands to protect herself. Moments passed, and then warm hands grasp her wrists forward only to gently inspect them.

"And the mortal is bound in magic?" He paused, tracing the thrumming runes, "Tell me girl, who sent you and why?"

Fear had gripped the girl's throat, she simply made rasping noises before squeaking out a quick, but full sentence, "I am an orphan from the village, chosen by the mage that leads us. We lost our harvest to a drought and they decided, I mean, I am here to offer myself as a blood exchange to the God that resides here for a blessing of rain and food upon the village." She dared not to look up at the being and make eye contact, instead, she watched him mess with the cuffs on her wrists.

"Your village sends me an orphan, chained in my own gifts to humanity, beaten, ragged," he makes a motion and with a glow of his hand the cuffs fall off, rattling on the ground where they landed, "and she still revises her words to protect her village that betrayed her and sent her to what they believed would be her death. All for the hope I could change the weather seasons ago?" Despite the cuffs having fallen off, the being did not let her hands go, instead, he applied enough force on them to hoist her back up to her feet. Once on her feet, he let her hands go, turned around to think, and mused, "What an interesting specimen."

"Consider yourself lucky, orphan girl. I am feeling merciful, and have deemed your predicament unfair for you. Your village gave you the short end of their bargain," he gives a short curt nod and a sudden wave of dark beasts pour out of the pools around the shrine and run out to the horizon," so they will receive their ample and selfish payment. And I in turn want to offer your kind soul a position working with me." He turns back to look towards the girl, with a wide gesture around the shrine, "You have proven yourself selfless in front of a God, despite your fears, despite your anger. I have need of a mortal like you, someone who could spread the word of my domain, and insure blood sacrifices like this one are not repeated."

The girl still unsure of what was going on and slowly folding in on herself replied curtly to him, "And if I refuse?"

"I will not be offended and you may leave I will even give you a personal escort of Grimm to guide you back, however, you may find yourself without a village home to return to."
