Monkey Business is a fully fledged bat pony, an expert con-mare and a master of illusion! He dresses up stereotypically for the pure jovial fun of it, but he makes an effort to make sure he's never seen without that cape.

His father was a powerful unicorn thief as well. He fell in love with a vampire batpony and had Monkey, and was ashamed. To try and hide his own deviancy, he blasted his sons wings clean off. Cruel and unusual punishment, but it's what he felt right since he knew his son was going to have the teeth and the ears and the eyes, he might as well spare him the most telling feature and tell people his son liked to cosplay or something.
