Profile
Summary
A botanist, mushroom druid and occassional cook, Chanterelle is a cheerful character eager to impress and show off his smarts and skills to others. He's a pretty chill guy to be around too, if you can shake the strange feeling of something being completely off whenever you're around him.
Is it the stares? The big ol' mushroom head? The unnatural grinning? Hard to say for sure!

Selfish
Energetic, whimsy and a cheerful character, Chanterelle may feel like a lot at first because he's eager to be liked from the get go. This makes him be rather flamboyant in his presentations or in general hand movements, as well as trying to speak in eloquent and colorful sing-songy vocabulary.
When things don't go quite his way however, he's easy to turn into a much more serious demeanor, becoming evidently self serving and mostly concerned with his own needs. His helpful attitude is usually a facade to help with the former first impressions or its in service of something for himself.
This sharp contrast is the unusual bit of the former Prof. Chanterelle.

Backstory
Chanterelle used to be a humble and well known guide by the border of the Quinlin wastes. He helped people cross the region when he wasn't engrossed in research work or was between teaching jobs for the simple joy of travel. Dedicating most of his life to the study of the flora of the Wastes, he tried to help its inhabitants thrive by adding these shroomy delicacies to their scarce diet, dabbling in gastronomy as part of his work.
In recent times however, he's found to be even deeper into his studies, becoming a bit of a hermit and refusing to continue expeditions or sharing in his work for the benefit of others. It's been an odd change on his part without even mentioning that mushroom stuck on his head now. Nevertheless, he still seems to be the kind professor and expeditioner he's always been... right?
Design
Physical Appearance
The Lizardfolk are coldblooded people of the Quinlin wastes! Secondary sex characteristics are basically nonexistant and minimal clothing is a norm because they don't retain body heat like warmblooded creatures. Unless you are unfamiliar with lizardfolk, Chanterelle's attire is not that out there.
He stands at about 5'8" standing up straight as he usually does.
Canon Outfits
Chanterelle used to adorn himself with meek little glasses, a ponytail and a scarf. Nowadays he barely even bothers with that, though he keeps the articles handy just in case.
When he works and cooks however, his apron is a must. Burns and messes are no joke.
Design Notes
- The mushroom on his head resembles that of a giant Chanterelle mushroom.
- He has tinier mushrooms scattered along his shoulder and lower neck, with specks of yellow adorning around it as if new mushrooms are ready to pop out.
- Feel free to simplify his design and take liberties when drawing!

Miscellaneous
Abilities/Strengths
- HEALING FACTOR: if Chanterelle is hurt badly, he can regrow small parts of his body like a lizard losing his tail. He can also grow layers of fast growing mushroom in his skin while he actually heals up proper.
- OVERDRIVE: Chanterelle can push his body to do large feats he normally wouldn't be able to do due to a high pain tolerance from a dulled sense of touch- aka moving fast or lifting heavy objects. He could very much hurt himself through this though.
- Chanterelle is book smarts. His language is expansive and he can identify ingredients, plants and fungi in a breeze.
- FUNGI SPORES: His fungi spores are able to do a few things on command. They can be bioluminiscent when necessary, create a rapid almost magical fungi growing effect in the right environment conditions and have a peculiar disorienting and debilitating effect if they're inhaled by others. On an especially weakened or small host, they have a strong power of suggestion (low key mind control lite) that Chanterelle can cast upon them, but this is easily countered by moving away from the spores or removing their source.
- FUNGI SUMMONS: Just as he can grow mushrooms quickly through his magical influence, he can control them to do his bidding. Although limited in the fact that it doesn't have its own autonomy and must be controlled by Chanterelle directly to work, it comes in handy as extra helping hands both in cooking and combat.
Weaknesses
- Chanterelle is cold blooded. He'll become increasingly lethargic in cold temperatures and longer exposures could be fatal.
- He's frail! Skin and bones even! He'll crumple up if you so much as punch him, healing factor or not.
- Chanterelle might be book smarts, but he is in no way street smarts especially outside of his usual environment.
- Certain ingredients are nonos to Chanterelle as it could harm the fungi structure ingrained in his body. These include: Ruda, Garlic, Papaya, onion, thyme, milk with baking soda, tomatoes, Cinnamon.
- Chanterelles dulled sense of touch usually leaves him ablivious to his physical limits when he's hurt or overdoing it.
- The shroom atop his head is also a big weakspot. It serves as a vital part of his body now that he requires for motor functions. He won't die if something were to happen to it, but Chanterelle won't be able to move until it heals and grows back.

Character Limitations
- Ask first if you're not sure but most things will be fair game!
- Chanterelle is a playground for themes of body horror and/or mind control. Personally, while I might touch upon these subjects one way or another, would avoid going too far with this as it can be a touchy or gruesome to others. Just make sure to ask permission if you're incorporating these things into the story in an extreme way!
