Quirks & Habits

After isolating herself for so long, Odigo isn't used to being out around people once the party dragged her out. She chews the inside of her cheek if she doesn't have a cigarette, picks at her nails, and fiddles with the cuffs of her coat.

Communication skills

When it comes to communication, Odigo is severely out of practice. She holds an intense ice cold eye contact, squared shoulders, with a flat and unwelcome tone as she cuts straight to the point. She refuses to talk about her past, and snaps at people often. Her body language is always tense and uncomfortable so it's hard to read her.

Showing affection

At first glance, she doesn't show affection at all. Look closer and you'll see the smallest forms of care towards her party members. It might be a pat on the shoulder or a small grumble of approval. Offering a cigarette or using a small healing spell. Say anything about it and you'll get a scowl and the cold shoulder for a week or two.

Scars & Marks

Odigo is covered head to toe with battle scars. The two noticable ones are the burn scar that travels from her neck down to the bottom her ribs, across her chest, and part of her right arm. The others are her face scars which she got from a demi god sent by Statera, they resemble the possesion marks of Statera.

Story

The War

Odigo lived on the peaceful island of Hasting Holm, born around the year 230. In the year 320, a war broke out between the gods that ruled the land. The god of death, Caedes, turned against his mother and brother, Statera and Natus, claiming he was underappreciated. Thus the great war began, and Odigo was determined to fight for her home.

Joining the war when she was just barely 100, Odigo was a talented soldier. She climbed the ranks incredibly fast, and before she knew it she was meeting the god of life himself to discuss battle plans. Odigo and Natus soon became acquainted, and after a few years, they were close friends. Natus often took care of her when she came back injured, always looking a tad bit guilty.

Despite their best efforts, Halsting Holm was taken over by Caedes in 345 and became a full blown war factory, pumping out weapons and soldiers at an alarming rate. It was much harder to fight now with the increased troops, nearly turning the tide of the war. During the war she met a front-line cleric named Galena. She was always so worried for Odigo and always told her to be safer. Odigo ended up in her medic tent about every week, and soon the two bonded and fell in love. Over the next century, Odigo fought hard and grew ever closer to Natus and Galena.

Over the next year, Natus became quiet and distant, something worried on his mind. Odigo questioned him, but everytime he would go to say something, Statera would show up and drag him away, sending a glare towards Odigo. One fateful night, she left her tent in order to find Natus, determined to find out what was wrong. She found him arguing with his mom, saying something about how ‘she deserves to know’. Statera was talking down to him, threatening to kill her if he ever mentioned it. Looking around the room, she found Caedes sitting in the corner, looking disinterested. He eventually spoke up that they should just kill her before she found out that the war was all a sham.

Odigo froze as she took in the information. Caedes was here. The gods are working together. The war is fake. Her whole life, all the scars, the fighting, the love and loss, was all for a fake war. Running out of there, she didn’t know where to go other than not here. Running to her tent, she found Natus sitting there waiting for her. Once he saw her, he quickly stood up, trying to explain. Odigo started shouting insult after insult, which prompted Natus to cover her mouth as he desperately tried to explain. It was too late, Odigo was heartbroken, and Statera was standing behind her.

Trap and Release

After that, everything was a blur. She remembers spending an unknown amount of time floating in a dark abyss, an odd sense of calm washing over her. She was snapped out a few times, finding herself in full armor with huge wounds laying in an empty medical tent. It didn’t last long before she was back to floating in silence, all alone. She was lost and confused, but seemed drained of any energy to think about it for too long.

After an unknown amount of time, the great clash of 1147 nearly split the war island of Maltonas in two, creating the ravine of Dead Man’s Tomb, splitting off a chunk of the island (later named Griever’s Reef, a memorial for the fallen), and throwing Odigo out of the darkness as she felt the burns cover her left side. She was dragged back to the medic tent, hearing distant calls about how ‘the folk hero is hurt’. She fell in and out of consciousness, noticing that it was different from the darkness she was in before.

Staring at the blank ceiling of the medic ward, she heard someone enter. A soft call of ‘Odigo?’ and she snapped her eyes over to Natus, who looked quite disheveled. He sat down and held up his hand for her to shush, and said he’d explain everything he could.

Odigo learned that she had been possessed by Statera for the past 700 years, being used as a puppet in a suit of armor as a folk hero. Her body is still young thanks to the possession. Statera was using her as a punishment for Natus for even considering spilling the truth. The clash was a show of true power between Statera and Caedes, and killed hundreds of thousands on both sides. Galena was long gone, personally gutted by Caedes on Statera’s demands. Back when Odigo was yelling, several soldiers overheard her, so Statera faked Odigo’s death and cursed her to look like Galena.

Odigo was having a hard time processing all of the information. Natus gave her no time to as soon he was dragging her out of bed, telling her he’s helping her escape. Still quite out of it, she found herself standing in front of her new house on Rook Island, a small retirement community just off Rosestone. She silently settled down, spending the next century in solitude, drinking away her sorrows, the blackouts being the closest she could get to that vast darkness she now missed. She never talked to her neighbors, only leaving the house for food and the occasional visit to her forest guardian friend from her childhood who had moved to Rosestone.

The Adventure

Her moping was interrupted by three traveling adventurers who were sent by these ‘magic coins‘ to come and find her. She knew it was a warning from Statera, Letting her know that she was never safe from the Gods. Odigo found herself dragged along on their adventures as Galena, and she decided to take this opportunity to use their help to somehow take down the gods. During one fight, a demi-god manages to drag its claws down her face, saying it was a gift from Statera. It left scars in the same place Statera’s possession marks appear. Over the next year, after losing and gaining some party members, the group winds up with a high elf fighter named Dzemael and a blue tiefling artificer named Amnon. By then, her plan was fully formed. Kill the gods, gain their powers, and fix the world.

Odigo led them around the islands, defeating corrupt demi-gods to grow their strength for the main fight against Natus. However, something threw Odigo off. The folk hero armor started showing up. The rest of the party knew the legend of the folk hero so Odigo had to play along, saying her discomfort was caused by a rocky past with them. She had no clue what poor soul was under there, or who was puppeting it

After months of traveling around killing demi-gods, they finally sought out Natus and challenged him to a fight. Natus seemed happy to see Odigo, but she sneered at him, clearly showing she meant business here. Only one of them was leaving alive. He chuckled, throwing out some starting quips before the fight began. Odigo had to admit, he was putting up a fight, but not as much as he could. Something was off, she could feel it. Right before the final blow, the folk hero armor burst from the side, grabbing the porcelain heart within Natus’ chest and shattering it, absorbing the power. The party stood there in shock, trying to process what happened before Odigo suddenly dropped to the ground unconscious.

Absolute Power

Opening her eyes, she found herself standing in the vast darkness, the calm tingling on her fingertips. This was different, off putting. She looked around and found Natus standing there, immediately pulling her into a hug, a huge smile on his face. Odigo slipped free, demanding to know where she was. Natus sighed, patting himself off as he explained. He was the god possessing the armor, using it to spy on the party. At the end of the fight, he committed suicide, using his last bit of strength to send his power to her. Now armed with the power of a full god, she could fight the other two no problem. He never liked the war, so he was happy to help end it.

Odigo snapped awake, looking at her concerned friends before standing up, a new power thrumming through her veins as she dragged the two along to hunt down Caedes. They found him quickly, and began the fight. Odigo held back, using her power to make sure he did no true harm to her allies. Just like the last battle, the folk hero armor swooped in at the end, crushing his heart and absorbing the power. Odigo was now the puppet master, and absorbed the power for herself. After she convinced the party that they had to get to Statera before the folk hero did, they set off.

Statera didn’t run. They found her standing on a cliff, awaiting their arrival. She had felt the death of her two sons, and wondered what their final plan was. Mid dialogue, a hand plunged through Statera’s chest, gripping the heart and shattering it before the parties eyes. The armor started to rise, glowing with the absorbed power, the power of three true gods. And then it clattered to the ground, empty. A bright light emitted from behind Dzemael and Amnon, and as they turned to look, instead of Galena, they found a new face, the true face of Odigo. Now dressed in a cloak, she rose off the ground, laughing to herself as the ground began to shake. She had done it. She was now strong enough to fix the world, just as she planned.

As she went to fly higher, she felt something hit her back. Turning around, she found Dzemael yelling something at her while Amnon was taking out his machines. Odigo was confused, didn’t they want to fix the world? She dodged the next rock Dzemael threw her way, scowling. The earth began to crumble and rise, bringing the two up eye to eye with her. They tried to fight her but it was pointless. She tried to explain that this world was too broken to be fixed. She was going to fix it, and that they can leave it up to her. They fought her until the black mass of death fell over the world.

The blank state sat before Odigo as she conjured up a small wispy recreation of her hometown before the war. There sat Natus and Galena, awaiting her. Walking forward, she sat beside them, awaiting the two other souls that deserved an explanation. Not long after, Dzemael and Amnon walked up, still angry. She couldn’t blame them. After a long conversation and some hurt words thrown her way, Odigo bid them a farewell, making them promise to protect the new world from any potential corruption.

The two woke up on Halsting Holm, Odigo’s hometown restored to its former glory. She was nowhere to be found, the world free from gods entirely. There was never a war, all islands lush and thriving. A perfect reset world. Looking at the fountain in the town square, there is a small memorial plaque dedicated to Odigo, the one and only evidence that she ever existed.

Chill Touch
Cantrip

Difficulty
Mastery

You create a ghostly, skeletal hand in the space of a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the creature to assail it with the chill of the grave. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 necrotic damage, and it can't regain hit points until the start of your next turn. Until then, the hand clings to the target.

Banishment
4th level

Difficulty
Mastery

You attempt to send one creature that you can see within range to another plane of existence. The target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be banished. If the target is native to a different plane of existence than the one you're on, the target is banished with a faint popping noise, returning to its home plane. If the spell ends before 1 minute has passed, the target reappears in the space it left or in the nearest unoccupied space if that space is occupied. Otherwise, the target doesn't return.

Fire Storm
7th level

Difficulty
Mastery

A storm made up of sheets of roaring flame appears in a location you choose within range. The area of the storm consists of up to ten 10-foot cubes, which you can arrange as you wish. Each cube must have at least one face adjacent to the face of another cube. The fire damages objects in the area and ignites flammable objects that aren't being worn or carried. If you choose, plant life in the area is unaffected by this spell.

Resurrection
7th level

Difficulty
Mastery

You touch a dead creature that has been dead for no more than a century, that didn't die of old age, and that isn't undead. If its soul is free and willing, the target returns to life with all its hit points. This spell neutralizes any poisons and cures normal diseases afflicting the creature when it died. It doesn't, however, remove magical diseases, curses, and the like; if such effects aren't removed prior to casting the spell, they afflict the target on its return to life. This spell closes all mortal wounds and restores any missing body parts.

Odigo and Natus used to be inseperable. Odigo was his top soldier and he treated her as such. Natus was guilt ridden about lying to her about the war, and often healed her wounds personally so the scars wouldn't stick around. Natus thought about telling her several times, and once Statera found out she was furious, yelling about him being out of line and delusional. Turning around he saw Odigo running away, her having witnessed the whole thing. He tried to run after her to explain but Statera stopped him. He was heartbroken, even more so when Statera punished him by posessing Odigo and using her as war propoganda. When she ran away, Natus tried to reach out but was denied. Later on, once she had absorbed his power, he was finally able to talk to her, but by then she was dead focused on resetting the world she wouldn't listen to him.

Despite their awkward first meeting where she stormed past him and stuck him to a slime wall, they became allies when Amnon showed up with him a few days later. She'll never admit it, but she enjoys his company, despite his chaotic and idiotic ways of going about life.

Odigo was vaguely knew about Amnon before they met. Odigo heard of him through her friend, Pascal, the forest guardian on Hasting Holm. He joined the party a month or two into their travels once Gabriel decided to split off. Although she wasn't sure on how to feel about him, he had Gabriel and Pascal's trust, which gave him a good start in Odigo's books. They grew closer over their travels, although Odigo hated his constant worries about her god killing plans.

Gabriel was the original person to show up on Odigo's doorstep asking for her. Gabriel took on the roll of a grandpa to anyone who joined the party, including Odigo. She was annoyed at his constant worry about her health and his hugs, but overtime she grew to tolorate them and stopped fighting him every step of the way. She was sad to see him go when he decided to leave the party and retire, but knew he would be safe. Well, safe until Odigo got the god's powers and reset the world.

Pascal and Odigo met in Hasting Holm during the early days of the war. Odigo joined the war, fighting for their home, but it wasn't enough. Caedes seized the island, turning it into a war preperation operation and soldier training for his side, forcing Odigo and Pascal to flee to Rosestone. Pascal started protecting a new forest there. Many centuries passed, many things happened, and Odigo came back to him broken. During her times of solitude after she fled the war, she would sometimes take time to visit Pascal and just reminisce about the old times. Once the world reset, Odigo made sure his old forest was indestructable.
