Alton 'Peace' Widershins's Links
Love of his life.
'Weirdo' - When they first met, Peace flat refused to tell Gourdon his name. Instead, he kept insisting that she call him something she came up with. Something special. Since she thought that he looked like nothing less than a taxidermy project gone wrong, she gave into his prodding and volunteered the name 'Weirdo'. Which he didn't seem to mind, and even found funny. Thus their relationship began. And it developed very slowly.
Nowadays, having been entrusted with the great 'secret' that is his birth name, Gourdon still usually calls her mate Peace. But good 'ol 'Weirdo' has stuck around as a pet name; the equivalent of 'sweetie' or 'dear'. On the rare occasion she does slip up and call him Alton (usually when he's done something to irritate her), she always regrets it the instant she sees him cringe. After all, even if she herself doesn't buy into all that 'THEM' stuff and occasionally even finds it annoying, Peace really is one of the warmest, kindest, most down-to-earth people she knows. In fact, Gourdon believes that the conspiracy theory stuff is simply a very intelligent and very childlike Parra's way of dealing with all the crud that goes on in the world today in a manner that keeps him from cracking under the stress of full-blown reality - once you get through the upper layers it's easy to see how clearly he really thinks. It makes him great to talk to. She just wishes that he wouldn't get so over-concerned about her welfare sometimes. She also wishes that he'd quit using her 'scraps' from the shop to make swamp boogers - and other odd things - which he delights in leaving on her desk for her to discover, and which she refuses to admit are actually halfway amusing. Not to mention profitable. But... he probably already knows.
The main sticking point between them is children - they can't have any of their own. Gourdon doesn't mind this one bit, and, in fact, doesn't really want any anyway. Her godson London is quite enough! As such, she's not quite sure how to deal with her mate and his occasional longings. For now, she just deftly changes the subject whenever she can and silently hopes he'll give it up someday.
