Soleil struggles with constant feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. He attempts to make up for this by inflating his ego and focusing heavily on his appearance; if he comes off as someone who is confident, then maybe he someday he will start to actually feel confident. Unfortunately, this also means that he has a tendency to be incredibly domineering, and will generally walk all over anyone who lets him. In addition to this, he has a tendency to be highly judgemental and overly critical of others. He is also offended relatively easily, and will often hold grudges over even the smallest infractions.

Despite how difficult it can be to get along with Soleil at times, he is a loyal friend. Once he begins to care about someone, it is incredibly difficult to get him to stop - even if he is currently holding a grudge against them. He is courageous and doesn't allow others to mistreat him or the people he cares about, and has even stood up for his siblings against his father on multiple occasions despite the bullying he recieved from them.

Soleil was born to High Prince Inigo Gamaliel and Princess Mordrana Gamaliel. He is the middle child of 6 siblings. He has two older sisters named Sinead and Sloane, an older brother named Sarin, two younger sisters named Sandrine and Solstice, and a younger brother named Snow. Soleil is the black sheep of the family, and isn't particularly close with any of his family members. He genuinely cares about all of them aside from his father, but doesn't go out of his way to speak with any of them.

Soleil's father was much more preoccupied with status and legacy than he was with providing love and care to his family. As a result, Soleil and his siblings never truly experienced childhood. From the moment they could form sentences, everything they said had to portray a good image of the family. From the moment they could walk, every action they took had to gain prestige for the family. Soleil's father didn't treat anybody in his family like people, let alone beloved family members. Instead, they were all more like pawns. Over time, Soleil's anger with this situation grew. He never seemed to be able to please his father, and there seemed to always be something wrong with everything he did. On the rare occasions that his father actually was pleased with him, his father would overshadow Soleil and take credit for his successes.

After years of trying and failing to make his father proud of him, he eventually gave up. He started hiding his successes from his family because he was sick of having his father either tell him it wasn't good enough, or taking credit for his success. He began to act out, frequently lashing out at family members. He stopped caring about his performance in school, eventually flunking out despite being a brilliant wizard. His father began to hate Soleil for bringing embarrassment to his family, singling him out and becoming exponentially more abusive towards him, frequently insulting Soleil and pulling him around by his hair. He would also use Soleil as a bad example for the rest of his siblings, humiliating him. Being singled out and used as a bad example caused all of his siblings to begin to hate Soleil as well, and they all soon started bullying him as well.

Isolated within his own family, Soleil began partying at taverns every single night in an attempt to find acceptance. He'd often go to commoner taverns because he knew it would get under his father's skin. After months of this, his father gave him an ultimatum: Either make something of yourself and stop embarassing the family, or leave and never return. Something inside Soleil snapped, but he managed to remain outwardly calm. He promised his father he was planning something big, something that would surprise him and "change everything".

There was an important diplomatic meeting involving several other important families happening soon. Soleil secretly sought out each of the people involved before the meeting and told them every negative thing he'd overheard his family say about them throughout the years. On the day of the meeting, he exposed his family's most humiliating secrets. Anything that would make the family look as terrible as possible. The meeting was a disaster, and for the first time ever Soleil's father showed his true colours publicly. He screamed at Soleil in front of everyone, telling him to leave immediately. When Soleil continued to argue with him and air out his family's dirty laundry, his father grabbed him by his hair, chopping it off in front of everyone before officially disowning him. Soleil has not spoken with anyone in his family since.
