Sparx was born in Sunnyshore City where he looked up to the town's gym leader and aspired to be just like him. Upon finding out what Volkner was actually like, he then resolved himself to besting the gym leader and assuming his position. He waited until he was old enough to travel between regions and goes around battling other electric pokemon specialists.
He wears a modified version of the electric tracksuit from Galar with the top of the electric gym uniform peeking through to show his affinity for the type.
