grew up with his older sister, wu. They were both orphans at a young age, but wu took over, and raised him the best she could. He would always pick fightd with people around school, or even in public if he thought they were looking at them the wrong way. They grew up in Liyue, but traveled around quite a bit by themselves, because they didn't have a permanent place to go. One day, they took a trip to inazuma, on a boat that they snuck aboard. When they arrived there, Xin ran into Itto, and picked a fight with him, but Itto thought it wasn't anything serious so he played along. Xin got beaten, and admired the strangers strength, and wanted to have a rematch as soon as possible. Itto decided to take him under his wing eventually. Time went on, and Xin and Wu, were able to put together a place to stay permanently in inazuma, and decided to turn over a new leaf, and settle down in the town.

after being in inazuma for a while, the two were able to make a living in the area, starting off by working at little booths that needed the help, or even going on hunts to find materials for the townspeople as well. They worked their way up, and saved up some mora in order to afford nicer stuff, and also get into nicer job positions.
