• quartz was inspired by the idea of a world where squids are the cute "default" animal!
• she's a "limestone spirit" of a squid from back when this desert world was still an ocean.
• after manifesting, decided to make overhauling metalstar's mail service her own project.
• ancient plans led to an occult twist, and it ended up becoming a sort of "soul repository" for other wayward sea souls like herself!
• the archives and mail system - purple and decorated like tentacles - are greatly enjoying their new position utterly flushed with ancient life
