Background
Zacharias was born into a loving family of mediocre standing, who provided what they could for their child growing up and loved him beyond all else. For years he did nothing but sate his hunger for knowledge, spent entire days at libraries, and impressed enough people to be eventually invited to court to research do research for the royal family. This is also where he met Albert the first time.
Smitten by Albert's charisma and intelligence close to his own, he began to harbour romantic feelings for him, which the other scientist quickly realised and used to his advantage. Together they could land breakthrough after breakthrough, all willingly credited to Albert, but when Zacharias realised his colleague's nefarious purposes he didn't have enough credit to his name to call him out. Instead, he was forced to continue or leave... though knowing too much, he was prosecuted even and had to leave the capital as fugitive... however, he destroyed what he could of his notes, just to be sure.
One of his last acts was saving a young elf from the brink of death, using a force Albert and he recently discovered... and he was determined to get the better of him in this final project. Realising he didn't have ways to protect himself or his patient, he began injecting himself with cells of mountain lions and became part of a beast himself, but he isn't sure how long his own humanity might hold...

Vulcan Lion
Fusing his cells with one of the strongest beasts known to man immensely increased his physical prowess and proportions, however at times it seems like his brain regressed to a more animalistic state as well. He was already somewhat cat-like before though, so most of the time it's not really noticable.
Toxicology
With immense knowledge about biology, he came to learn how to use its weapons for himself as well. Especially useful when it comes to capturing specimen without any danger to any life.
