A plant witch and arcane researcher, the quirky but wise old mentor type. He's curious about many things and loves riddles. He's technically both a witch (doing green/domestic/community magic) and a wizard (studying magic academically). Demetrius is a very advanced wizard and not shy about showing it off, but he's not a snob, he loves to teach others what he knows.

Day to day he primarily uses his witch magic to take care of plants, especially medicinal ones, and for healing. Academically he studies many old, lost or forbidden magic- some of it horrible stuff that would be taboo to actually use on someone (which he doesn't, though he could). It’s allowed as a “know thy enemy” thing, but honestly Demetrius just likes learning stuff. He's also quite renowned for his ability to translate old texts and modify outdated spells to be usable again.

While he's undeniably bright, Demetrius can also be a little up in the clouds. One time he uncovered a villainous plot, and before telling anyone he took a moment to admire how delightfully clever the evil plan was. He's also very stubborn, and can be painfully blunt. Has been known to take things he wants -such as spellbooks- right out of other peoples' hands as if he didn't even notice them using it. He's a sweet guy, but not a pushover.
Demetrius is Deaf and nonspeaking. He can’t hear anything short of an explosion. He communicates through sign language or writing, and has a crow familiar who helps him hear in emergencies. He prefers to sign with people who understand it since it's more expressive, but otherwise writes bubble letters in the air with magic.

He probably wears pajamas in public sometimes, but no one can tell them from his usual clothes. This man makes his own biscuits that look like dog treats just to eat in public and offer to guests. He also always has a pocketful of peanuts for crows.

Design trivia: the gold patterns on his blue outfit are inspired by celestial maps. His two nostril piercings are actually a single nasallang piercing that goes all the way through. He wears the bell necklace just because he likes it, but if anyone gets irritated he pretends he didn't know it makes a sound.
