Ze/zir pronouns please

Carta Dwarf that tried to go straight by joining the templars. Doesn’t really believe in all this Chantry shit, but the pay is good and the abilities are useful and ze is quite more resistant to magic as a dwarf.

Is not above letting a mage go for a bribe, that is if they have the coin. Ze has to keep zir job after all.

Not always the best person but ze has a lot of family on the surface and none of them have fancy connections above ground, so ze tries to scrounge what coin ze can to send back home to zir seven brothers and sisters, all different levels of carta but the only family ze can really count on, even if they bicker constantly.

Thankfully though that means ze never has to worry about running out of lyrium.

Goals

-Join the templars to make a stable living and maybe live long enough to see old age.

-Make coin.

-Make new traditions

-Flaws

Greedy

Mouthy

Can be a bit callous

Relationships:

Aine's dad, Triwan Ine, is a manipulative nightmare and the head of a Carta clan. Ze's whole family is different operating members of the Carta, but Aine is the odd one out, never finding much taste of the business of murdering, smuggling, stealing and doing just about any grunt work for the Dwarven Merchant's Guild.

Aine's mother is better but not too much better. While she cares for the family she excuses zir father and brothers and is the most disappointed that Aine decided to abandon zir family position and what little Stone sense ze has to join a human organization, the Templars.

How Aine got to join the templars was a case of simple connections. Aine was Daniel Hoffman's lyrium dealer. Daniel Hoffman's a funny guy for a human and not an ass for a templar, and happens to work at the local Chantry at Stenhold. When Aine expressed interest in his abilities, he offered to show her some basics of the training. When she asked if there were any dwarven templars, his answer was, not yet. There are a lot of Chantry rules. More than Aine knew, and there's a lot of reading about a burned woman who sounds like a mage, but damned if you tell any human that. And there's a lot a talk about Faith, something Aine's never really had. Still even though the pay is shit now, ze has a much more stable home, three square meals, and all the ale ze can drink so ze can say whatever bullshit the humans want to hear if it will get zir the job. Daniel's been teaching Aine about the Chant, but he doesn't seem to mind questions like most humans, and though they are not good enough friends to confide in, ze suspects that Daniel doesn't quite believe everything the Chant says either. Still, if he was athiest or otherwise, he makes a good show of it in public and ze has learned how to follow his lead.

Telling zir family that ze was breaking tradition was not easy, but Aine craves a more stable and longer life than awaiting most of zir family. Both of zir grandparents died before ze was born, and ze has put to the stone too many cousins and uncles and aunts and even a few siblings.

Ze's oldest sister, Joslhe died when ze was 11, old enough to already be training. Joslhe always was careful, kind of a mother hen with her caring and paranoid to the point of delusion at times. Still she was still killed by a straw arrow to the forehead when she didn't put her shield up high enough after a string of bad nights of sleep. Joslhe always stressed to Aine to take care of zirself but was always the worst at following her own advice.

A year ago, zir youngest brother Destin was killed in a rival Carta raid that ze wasn't home to defend for, and ze couldn't put zirself in the same work anymore. Death happens in this business, but though a lot of zir family had hardened their hearts a long time ago, Aine's heart still bleeds.

Ze second oldest brother Rokas, is always nagging Aine to toughen up and stop crying. He was one of Aine's biggest bullies growing up and would emotionally and physically torment her as a way to get her used to turning off pain and feelings. He often said when he was hurting her he was doing her a favor. Naturally he excels at the family business and is being groomed to be the next Carta Head of the family. He helps manage many of the Carta's affairs and is constantly keeping tabs on Aine. While he constantly gives Aine shit for breaking tradition, he isn't shy about using her new connections to do even more business. He wants to use Aine's new job as a way to ingratiate himself even more with the Templars to leverage in business.

Aine's third eldest sibling is also nonbinary and showed Aine ze could be. Malinda or Mally as they like to be called, broke tradition of the binary. It was Mally said that there was a sealed away wing in the Shaperate talking about how there were at least four other recorded genders other than man and woman, though apparently a lot of records were stricken and the traditional understanding of gender in Orzammar was cemented into what it is today. Aine and Mally both have a dream of breaking into the Shaperate and making a copy of those records.

Aine's brothers Jurkin the Jerk and Dwolin the Dumb, think they are a comedy duo and often used to gang up on the teasing with Rokas. They do NOT respect either Mally or Aine's pronouns and when ze made up zir own pronouns, they started making up fake pronouns to refer zir as. They are both asses with little redeemable qualities but Aine still loves them very much and takes any pronouns hurled at zir with pride.

Kalinda is Aine's youngest sister and the only other sibling other than Mally to support Aine's transition and new path. Kalinda reminds Aine a lot like Joslhe before she died, and so ze babies her a lot, and they have a sort of ride or die relationship.

Aine has a pet deepstalker that Kalinda got Aine as a pet at a festival when she was working a job in Orzammar. Slinky is Aine’s pride and joy. She is a mean lady who likes to eat rats and chicken.
