The few who've come back from encounters with The Jester are not what we could call expert witnesses; they are often mentally and physically exhausted, they have been known to repeat "don't stop dancing," and other phrases for days afterwords in an exhausted haze.

The only thing we know is that a warning of their presence is loud, up-beat music and large unending parties in the area. There have been reports of familliar faces in the crowds, often of employees who went MIA... though this has not been proven to be fact and may be illusions meant to draw you closer.

If you suspect you are in the vicinity of The Jester, cover your ears and leave the party immediately. Do not stop to dance. Do not look at the faces in the party. They are not a mission for beginner employees.

A single theory has been formed about The Jester's role in the U.N.I.O.N, That they use some form of brainwashing through the breaking down of the spirit.

A fan of the arts and especially of drama, The Director appears to be a low threat, though they do put others in high-stress situations just for the drama. Reports say they assign you a role in their 'film' and if you do not play it 'right' they will try and force your hand or eject you from the 'set'. They have powerful reality-bending abilities and should not be underestimated.

In the experience of a few beacon employees, it is alegedly possible to develop a certain bond with them if you play into their games and win the battles. They also tend to be honorable in defeat and will leave a dimension alone after. Also reported though is if they don't like you, they might make your experience as stressful as they can.

The Director often has no known cues of encounter, one report by a human made an obscure reference to a character on Star Trek named "Q", quoting "they are annoying, I hate them."

Not much is known about their actual role in the U.N.I.O.N, one theory suggests the plays are of a political nature to try and help sympathize with the U.N.I.O.N.

Most important to note about The Haunted is that they have been witnessed many times but their exact form is unknown, they may be able to shift and thus might be able to hide amongst a party of travelers. The other running theory is that The Haunted is not a singular being, and is instead a method employed by many U.N.I.O.N members as a fear tactic.

By the time you realize The Haunted is in a dimension, you will already be stuck in a Haunting, as the only way to tell that it is The Haunted is by process of elimination.

1). A dimension seems to have many recent ghost stories.

2). The ghost stories correlate with missing beings or those struck with ongoing night terrors.

3). No other creature is found in the vicinity that could wreak that havok, which of course, requires a search - and is often when you will become involved with The Haunted.

If you have any reason to believe you are in an encounter with The Haunted, do not split your team up. though you may not be able to perish with Cry's protection, there is no telling what sort of horrors you will encounter.

Those who return from a mission involving The Haunted are often troubled by their experiences and should seek counselling provided by The Beacon Company.
