7th grader by day and creature of darkness by late afternoon (and home before 8pm) Atlee is the youngest addition to Darcy’s group. She woke up after an accident with a strange voice in her head and realized she could manifest an absolutely badass and evil hell knight who introduced themself to her as Idella. The two stayed on the downlow until they were approached by a bizarre person in a lab coat who also had a creature like Idella. Instead of fighting like Atlee anticipated, she ended up joining a group for people like herself! Currently Atlee takes her newfound villain status very seriously and loves to cause problems. Even before meeting Idella, Atlee has always been a loud and rambunctious sort of kid. They’ve always rooted for the bad guy ESPECIALLY if they have a complex and tragic backstory and they love everything spikey. Atlee has unbridled energy and if youre around them for enough time you will hear their thoughts and feelings on absolutely everything from videogames to how she likes burritos to the main themes in her favorite manga. Very passionate and undeterred by being called weird, readily embraces it and will also bite if pushed too hard and absolutely will pick fights if she feels wronged. Has no friends her age but has a very supportive mother who gets into her interests with her, and now she has her shadowy and malevolent syndicate to keep her company!
Relationships:
Idella- Also known as Rook while on duty since its cooler sounding, Idella is Atlee’s powerful ally and where she believes her newfound strength comes from. The two met on a fateful and appropriately stormy evening after Reva’s car was struck on the passenger’s side where Atlee sat. When Atlee came to she was at the hospital with her mother and in the coming days noticed very little was wrong with her aside from the side of her face and a new voice that she kept thinking was coming from a doctor out of view. Eventually she realized it was coming from inside of her and Idella revealed themself. Ever since the two have been very close, Atlee loves having someone who understands her and hearing about the dimension Idella is from. Atlee often gets Idella to shapeshift their arms into different cool weapons and cut things up (typically fruit which she eats with her mom later). Atlee sometimes mimics their speech and mannerisms to appear cooler.
Reva- Atlee’s mom who is very supportive of her and her interests. Reva doesn’t have as much time as shed like but whenever shes free shes usually doing something with Atlee, shes divorced but on good terms with her ex and Atlee goes back and forth freely. Reva tries not to be suffocating but after Atlee’s accident shes become a bit over-protective and worries about her baby’s health. She thinks Atlee’s afternoon activities are school club related. The eyeball pin she wears as well as the one on Atlee’s bookbag and their shirt are based off of their favorite monster from their favorite game.
Briar + Colette- Atlee really likes these two but especially Briar. Briar will readily join Atlee in her training and often asks to see her progress, which she is very proud of and eager to share. Briar also always reads and writes his impressions on whatever stuff she recommends which is not something people usually do. Its kind of weird because they give them to her in a wax sealed envelope but like its kind of cool too so Atlee looks forward to it. Briar often walks Atlee home if Laurie is busy, they sometimes take detours into bookstores and hobby shops if it isn’t too late in the evening. Less close with Colette but still thinks shes interesting, likes to ask her stuff about the dimension she and Idella come from, though Colette is more vague than Idella is.
Laurie + Sascha- Darcy often pairs Atlee and Laurie up because she says his agility compliments Atlee and Idellas brute strength. He seems kinda timid so Atlee has decided to stick up for him and watch his back! They try to involve him in their training as well as playing games with him while theres not much to do. Hes usually the one to accompany her most of the way home and doesn’t take detours but offers a bit more concrete conversation which is good too. Atlee doesn’t see Sascha as much but think his scar is the coolest thing ever and got excited meeting someone else with a really visible one (and its on the same side!).
Darcy + Melibe- The mysterious boss lady.. Darcy is pretty nice and checks in on Atlee often but seems to prefer to relay information through Idella for some reason. Atlee assumes its just top secret high ranking stuff not even she can know yet. Sometimes Darcy shows her how to do magic tricks which are kinda cool, whats REALLY cool is the time she showed off how to do sword swallowing, instantly won over Atlee. Melibe is really shy but takes a lot of interest in the books Atlee brings over, they wanna invite her over to play games one of these days.
Anya’s group- Darcy advised her to be as low contact as possible with the group so she doesn’t really know a lot about them, but gets so pumped up at the idea of having a final showdown.

Idella is an imposing figure shrouded in mystery that does the bidding of a prodigious child in an effort to squash any and all opposition to their group.. Well not really that much mystery, theyre the same sort of creature as the others and come from the same place. Idella, contrary to what Atlee assumed, was a poet in their world. They weren’t very popular or well known or successful in any tangible way but it IS what they did for a living! They wanted a change of pace and the adventure and drama of escaping into an unfamiliar world would do SO much good for the creative slump they were in, and unlike the others they were planning to return home in a couple months. It was supposed to be like a risky and exciting vacation of sorts, but instead they found something that mattered to them more than returning home. Theatrical and a bit odd by virtue of being a performing artist Idella has assumed the role of an evil warmongering knight to entertain Atlee, while genuinely trying to aid Darcy in her goal. When not in their persona mode Idella is thoughtful and constantly seeking beauty and amazement from the world, they love all forms of arts (the more flowery the better) and enjoy being looked up to by Atlee. They sometimes worry about her finding them boring the more they get to know each other so they keep up their persona most of the time, knows they have to tell her eventually but hopes to remain "badass" in her eyes for a bit longer.
Relationships:
Atlee- Their dear little menace, Idella has assumed the role of an aunt/uncle/parental figure to Atlee and plays along while also keeping her safe. They want to be something she looks up to and when the kid youre trying to impress loves villains and dark forces you do what you gotta do to look and sound the part! Idella plans to tell her more about their actual self when things calm down a bit but is having a lot of fun with their current role and is reminded of their acting days. Truthfully, Idella isn’t actually whats making Atlee capable of the physical prowess she shows, the only thing Idella has done was reanimate the child after stumbling upon the accident. Idella is protective of Atlee and is what is Literally keeping her heart beating.
Darcy + Melibe- Very close with Darcy! The two are sort of like parent friends? They each have a young ward of each others species under their care and come to the other for advice/ to talk. Idella is probably the only member of the group who is mature enough for Darcy to talk to one on one without feeling like shes overwhelming them and they drop their persona around her entirely which is sort of nice to be able to do. Idella is the only member to know about Darcy’s worries with Melibe and the mysterious woman who contacts her. They have a normal friendly relationship with Melibe and sees her similarly to how they see Atlee.
Briar + Colette- Friendly with these two and appreciates how they treat Atlee and appreciates Colette not blowing their cover when she very easily could. They ask bizarre questions and can come across as unsettling but theyre good kids.
Laurie + Sascha- On good terms with these two but not very close to them, thanks Laurie for doing what he can to keep Atlee safe when theyre doing actual work together and for playing along with the agility and brute force thing Darcy suggested. Rarely speaks to Sascha but sometimes accidentally ask embarrassing questions that make him freeze up. Theyre just curious about how a romance between a human and one of their own works!
Anya’s group- Wary of these people for the simple fact that if they were removed from Atlee her heart would stop, but they have faith they would understand her circumstances and doesn’t really fear them, wonders why they seem so aggressive to the new arrivals when theyre usually just disoriented and are harmless? Idella knows travel is technically banned right now but it seems a bit harsh. They also are wondering why they all seem to be teenagers aside from one. An odd bunch that’s for sure!
