History

Florence "Flo" Walker is the only child of Steve and May Walker. Her father, Steve Walker, works with Stark Industries as a chemical engineer and switches between the New York City and Los Angelos locations. Despite her father's constant moving, she still lives in New York City with her mom and uncle. Flo lives lives part time with her Uncle, Peter B. Quill, during the week while her mom works long, sporiadic hours as a scrub nurse at Metro-General Hospital. Her uncle works at the same hospital as a physical therapist, so Flo visits the hospital often and sees her mom every day.

Life went on as normal. Flo went to school and hung out with her mom during her off days while her Uncle Pete secretly saved the day as Spider-Man. When Flo was in 10th grade, Peter came home from a long, grueling battle with Doc Ock. Octavius intended to create an army of spider powered people, and Peter destroyed all Octavius's radioactive spiders; except for one.  Unbeknownst to Peter, a leftover radioactive spider hid on his person.

"The spiderbite"

Peter climbed through the window of his apartment and into his room. As he went to take off his costume he noticed one of Octavius's spiders on his arm. He swatted it off and the spider fell to the floor, when he went to squish it the spider scuttled off towards Flo's room. Peter hurriedly threw on lounge clothes so Flo wouldn't see his costume before he went to work and frantically scanned the apartment for the arachnid invader.

The spider climbed up Flo's wall and spun a web til it was just above her head. She paused her music and put down her pencil when she heard a large crash outside of her door. A disheveled Peter burst into her room, frantically looking around for something. Flo jumped in surprise and screamed at her uncle. Her sudden movement caused the spider to drop from it's web onto her chair. Peter is spinning around, throwing things, and repeatedly asking where 'it' is. At this point Flo is more than confused and pissed, she demands to know what Peter is on about. Flo is screaming, Peter is screaming.

He's running his hands through his hair, getting close to hyperventilating, and Flo is still confused as all heck. All while the scene unfolds the spider makes it's way towards her and crawls up her leg. Peter takes notice of the spider and orders Flo to not move a muscle. Without any reason given she rebels falls back into her chair with an exasperated huff. Peter lunges towards the spider, but it's too late. It had already sunk it's mandibles into her hand. After peppering Flo with questions about how she feels, he retires for the night. Flo sits down to finish the art piece she was working on, but found herself feeling woozy and decided to go to bed early.

"Flo discovers her powers"

The next day Flo woke up feeling much better, and went to have breakfast with her uncle before she left for school. Peter, still skeptical of the events that transpired the night before, decided to test his theory and yeeted an empty milk jug at the back of Flo's head. A strange sensation tugged at the back of her head and she instinctively caught the milk jug. Surprised at herself, she tried to drop the jug, but it was stuck to her hand. Quick to think, she pretended to hold the jug, hoping that Peter didn't notice her sticky situation. Peter smirked knowingly and left for his morning shift at Metro-General Hospital as a physical therapist. Flo panics and the jug drops from her hand.

Against her better judgment, she shrugs it off and leaves for school. All through her classes she gets the same weird tingling sensation at the back of her head, always when some delinquent decides to do something dumb. During the lunch period Flo and her best friend, Meredith Jade Waller, a fellow type 1 diabetic, are checking their blood sugar together in preparation for lunch when a fight erupts. Eugene Thompson picks a fight with Flo demanding that she give him her homework to copy off of. When she refuses, Eugene pulls back his fist and goes to punch her in the gut when the sensation in her head fires off again and she instinctively jumps back.

The rest of the school day is as weird as the first half, but the weirdest thing that happened is when she threw a dodgeball so hard it sent Eugene flying into a wall.

MJ and Flo part ways and Flo begins her walk towards her apartment. The sensation in the back of her head goes off again and she notices a strange man in her peripheral. Flo starts to run and the man catches up with her, pulling her back and holding a knife to her throat. Without thinking, Flo elbows the attacker in the gut and pulls the knife out of his hand before flipping away from his reach. She deals attacks and dodges towards her attacker, effectively causing the mugger to give up and run off.

Flo leans against a wall, trying to process what just happened. She discovers that she's stuck to the wall and pulls back until she's released. She decides to give an idea a whirl and tries to climb the wall like she had seen Spider-Man do on the news. To her surprise, it works and she reaches the top of the building with a loud holler.

She checks her blood sugar and rests as Spider-Man reveals himself. He had watched the whole interaction happen. Flo freaks out and jumps back with a squawk, creeped out that Spider-Man was watching her, forget the fact that he didn't help her. But as a serious Spider-Man fan, she was also internally freaking out. Spider-Man asks when and how long she's known to do everything she just did, and just as Spider-Man suspected she'd say, she was clueless. Spider-Man offers to bring her home, but Flo declines. Spider-Man insists and scoops her and swings towards their apartment. Flo is extremely creeped out that he knows where she lives until Spider-Man reveals himself to her as her dear Uncle Pete.

Peter explains the previous night's events to Flo and his behavior makes sense to her. She's freaked out that her uncle fights the most dangerous criminals in NYC and immediately tells her uncle that she wants to be left out of it. She decides that she'd rather live a normal life and Peter respects her wishes. He asks her to let him train her to use her powers for self defense, to which she reluctantly agrees. Flo returns to her normal demeanor and spends the rest of the night peppering Peter with fangirl questions about his life as Spider-Man.

"Becoming Spider-Gly"

The months turn into a year, Flo is now a sophmore at Midtown High and understands her powers well enough to coexist with them. The weekend of a 5k run to raise money and awareness for type 1 diabetes arrives, something that Flo and MJ had been looking forward to. (Trigger warning ahead: adbuction and death mentioned) After a successful 5k run, Flo and MJ begin their trek back to their respective homes when tragedy strikes. MJ is abducted by two heavily armed men, Flo is paralyzed with fear, too scared to pursue her friend's captors. She calls her uncle before calling the police, but it's too late, MJ is gone. Spider-Man spends the next week looking for MJ and her captors, he successfully fights off the criminals and leaves them for the police to handle, bringing the unconscious girl to the hospital. It is revealed that she has entered a diabetic coma as a result of diabetic ketoacidosis. MJ is too far gone and succumbs to dka, despite the doctors' efforts.

Feeling responsible for the death of her friend, Flo decides that she can't be normal while people need her help. Her uncle helps her take on the guise as Spider-Gly in honor of her fallen friend. Together her and her uncle find and end the organization that kidnapped MJ.

Life becomes more difficult for Flo as she balances her new duel identity with her normal life. She was able to dodge her parents easily enough due to the fact that she lives part time with her uncle. As the months dragged on she graduates to the 12th grade and falls into a routine with her uncle and starts to get the hang of being Spider-Gly.

Flo inherited her father's intelligence and would later on in life pursue a career as a meteorologist and part time stormchaser, even attending the same university as her father, Empire State University. Like her mom, she has undying desire to help others in trouble. Due to being around her uncle so much, she even took on his in-battle bantering and quickly becomes known as a go-lucky, plucky, quippy vigilante.
