-Decay can appear in any place that is occupied by a living being. The state of being alive is a state of decay. Its presence is sometimes preceded by a sudden growth of fungus.

-Decay’s appearance shifts constantly. What is consistent throughout is its great height, a long cloak, and the distinct sense that it is incomplete in appearance somehow. When it moves it appears as if it is swimming through the air. It’s often covered in mold or fungi.

-The worship of Decay involves relinquishing a desire for permanence and accepting change as glorious and inevitable. It is creating new things and watching time shred them to pieces. It is being content with change in oneself, and not trying to hold on to the present or reverse what has already happened. The core tenant of its worship is accepting that the world is constantly changing and that everything will disappear with time. It's celebrating change and rejecting comfort in constants. Followers of Decay and followers of Death also have a big overlap, because part of Decay is accepting death as a natural part of life that should not be feared

-Decay is responsible for the disease of the undead. In ancient times, the world was thriving and societies pursued permanence with fervor. People lived longer, things stayed perfectly preserved for as long as they wanted. Decay fell out of favor and was refused worship near-universally. The world had rejected them. The world had become complacent in comforts. Decay’s patience finally ran out, and they decided to force mortals to face them by unleashing an apocalyptic event that nearly wiped out the Overworld. It was a divine lesson on the fragility of all things. Now that new creations are rising and falling within the ruins of that old world of hubris, Decay is contented.

-Decay has not yet had a chosen mortal, which is unusual for a spirit as old as it is. Some spirits of an equivalent age have already had several. Of course, it has been harder for the spirits to interact with the mortal world at all following the disease, but that is also Decay's own doing.

-The Wither is often associated with Decay.
