Character ideas: Brindle dog to a reclusive owner who was a serial killer/overall bad dude

Stereotypical massive chained up aggressive dog in the backyard; known for his eerily bright eyes

Just a messed up man in general, but Axel was loyal to his owner despite it all

Owner had a daughter Axel bonded to, and when owner went after the daughter, Axel tried to defend the girl before he and the girl was killed (but not before seriously maiming the owner)

Owner ended up perishing, but now Axel inhabits his once-living owner's body in an odd beastly form due to the bites he put onto his owner before Axel's first death

Continues to mourn the dead little girl, but inherited his owner's short temper and tries to channel it into keeping outsiders outside of his woods (local boogeyman)

---He doesn't enjoy killing though, and tries to use his appearance (chains, axe) as a deterrent

He was confused for a long-ass time because he was suddenly a dog with a human's awareness, but now he realizes the basics of cleanliness at least, after 50 or so years

Can force a change back into human (a very furry human), but only for certain stretches, and by the time sun sets he's back in his beastly form

Like a werewolf, he tends to lose what humanity is inherent to him on a full moon and goes feral (not violently-so, but reverts back to his dog-like intelligence so his perception of the world shrinks and his morals shift)

Gets around in a truck he stole way back when; tries his best to keep it running
