― Dae-young Ahn

In a world of heroes and do-gooders, Dae-young Ahn causes trouble for anyone who calls themselves a good guy. A self-proclaimed villain, Dae-young never stops trying to be "the worst of them all." However, his actions usually only ever involve fighting other "bad guys" and as such he's labeled as an independent Bounty Hunter. Though it upsets him, there's a part of him that is relieved.

Appearance

Dae-young is a Korean man with medium length black hair, partially thick eyebrows and amber eyes. When in darker lighting, the inner parts of his hair show sparkles similar to stars in the sky. His pupils are in the shape of stars, and he has dark circles under his eyes regardless of how much he's slept.

He often wears a cloak and hat remeniscent of a cartoonish wizard, but with star motifs. His cloak will have star patterns subtly sewn into the cloak, and during combat or battle he sports spikes and a longer cloak to cover his legs. His hat has a spiked collar at the base with a star chain at the end. Underneath his cloat is usually a black sweatshirt with grey cargo pants, but sometimes he will wear clothing such as chainmail or a dark grey medieval robe. His boots are large and increase his height.

When using his powers, both hands turn into giant metal gauntlets, often times being large enough to drag across the ground. However, despite the appearance, Dae-young can move his arms and hands without any obstruction or signs of struggle.

Personality

Dae-young is a loud and eccentric person, and tries to constantly create schemes and plans to enact "evil deeds to deter the heroes." Dae-young believes in becoming a villain, though many people believe he's simply taking role-play too seriously. As such, Dae-young often attempts to get into people's way in order to get their scorn. However, Dae-young more often than not fights against people he considers "bad guys" than he does "good guys," often winning in fights against them. "If I defeat bad guys, then I'm an even worse guy!"

Dae-young is an extrovert, but self-imposes isolation from people due to his belief in his status as a villain or an antagonist in other people's lives. As such, his lack of socialization with others causes him to end up making schemes just to get attention from others, and said schemes never cause any damage, property or to another human being, that lasts for longer than a week or so. However, he seems to deteste people who are considered scum of the earth, saying that "a true villain wouldn't resort to such things." This is shown in his disgust for people who harm others for enjoyment, which is a contradiction in "becoming the worst bad guy."

History

Dae-young's memories of his family are faint, but still affect him to this day. His parents decided to live away from the rest of their families, and they still attempted to raise Dae-young to the best of their abilities. His mother played games with him, calling him "her little protagonist, a hero of her legends." His father was a professor before being laid off, and he would teach Dae-young things about the stars and the planets beyond their world. Dae-young's most prized possesion was a brand new telescope and a piece of a meteorite that his parents saved up for his birthday. Things were tough, but he was loved and that's all that mattered to him. He had a brilliant mind, slowly expanding his interests into business and law when he started attending high school.

One day, Dae-young and his parents were on their way home when they were attacked by a magical beast. His father shielded Dae-young while his mother tried to fight it off, but the two of them were heavily injured. On that day, Dae-young had the piece of meteorite in his hands, which turned into giant gauntlets. With a flash and a boom, the creature was nothing but ash on the ground, but Dae-young fainted next to his parents. The family was sent to a hospital by a bystander who found them, and his parents were comatose by the time they treated their injuries. Dae-young, desperate to find some way of being able to pay for his parents' recovery, contacted the families of his mother and father to ask for their help.

None of his family members would help him. Even when Dae-young would beg, still weak from the incident and enduring verbal harrassment from debt collectors, his family refused to extend a hand to help his parents. Meanwhile, he would see some of the same family benefit from success and fame, becoming hyprocites on social media and pretending to be pragmatic. He saw both sides of his extended family; their greed, their lies, their image---and the darkness in his heart began to burst out.

His aunts and uncles would find their homes destroyed by something akin to a meteorite smashing into the ground, and valuables missing from their rooms. His cousins would find their posessions sprawled out and crushed. The media labeled the perperator as a villain, someone who would hurt this innocent family of influencers and rich men. Meanwhile, Dae-young studied hard and trained himself, but his personality soon twisted and changed. He no longer was someone's little protagonist. He was no longer a student of a wise man. He was no longer a hero, a son, a brilliant young soul.

He was a villain. A villain who stole and destroyed other villains. Even when an organization reached out to him to recruit him and set him on the right path, he refused and continued his reign of terror. He brought ruin to people who were related to him by blood, and soon that extended to others who would be what people saw as "the bad guys," "the scum of the earth," anything negative. Dae-young would find them and would erase them from the earth.

At the end of the day, he would sit between the beds of two adults who would never wake up. Even the stars couldn't grant him relief from his reality, so his mind slowly sank into darkness. All he understood was to be a villain, and should his parents wake up once more...would they recognize their little one? That fear and that question was buried deep down into the shadows in his mind. In clear nights, he takes out his telescope and watches the stars above him.

Abilities

Powers

Aspect of the Stars

Dae-young can use and manipulate dark matter and utilise stellar manipulation, but this ability is a volatile and dangerous ability. This ability was granted to Dae-young through the meteorite he held, and was unleashed due to an extreme amount of emotional stress Dae-young experienced in a short amount of time. In addition, the meteorite became a part of Dae-young's hands, being able to transform into large gauntlets that aid in Dae-young's control over the powers he's been given.

Restriction; Harm The Evil, Harm No Good

Dae-young subconsciously added the restriction to his abilities, which make them more potent. Dae-young cannot harm a living being he considers a "hero" or a "good guy", which means that his abilities have no effect or can do damage to this typing of people. On the other hand, someone considered a "villain" or a "bad guy" can be harmed by Dae-young's abilities. Inanimate objects are affected as normal, but the restriction makes it so that "bad guys and villains" are more damaged by his abilities than inanimate objects like concrete.

Relationships

Dusk Seekers

Quartz and the others often butt heads with Dae-young, especially because of Dae-young's insistance that they are his rivals and that it's one of their destinies to defeat him. Despite this, they don't think of him as a threat and instead are sympathetic towards him when they realized the truth behind his actions, even if Dae-young is not aware of it.

Trivia

  • Dae-young has a Napoleon complex, which causes him to lose composure and even forget to use his abilities to opt for a more physical attack towards his opponent if he's humiliated by his height. Rather than being targetted for being shorter than average, it seems more like an aspect of Dae-young that he dislikes.
  • Dae-young learned how to do stock marketing and sold many of his distant family's posessions anonymously to gain a large amount of wealth. However, he only takes a fraction of it to pay for his parents' medical bills and his own needs for rent and food. The remainder, after putting some money away for savings, is then given to many charity organizations and individuals. Despite his insistance that he's a villain, he more so often-than-not is a Robin Hood type of character at heart.
  • Dae-young's favourite characters are often antagonists and villains in media, in contrast to his mother's preference for liking protagonists and heroes. His father, on the other hand, likes minor characters.
