  •  Name   Jade Rabbit
  •  Age  22
  •  Height   5'6"
  •  Class   Bard - College of Lore
  •  Sexuality   Pansexual
  •  Alignment True Neutral

  • Jade Rabbit is a Moon Rabbit and former Archivist who works as a Hunter for the Azure City. She is also the lore-keeper of the Lunarians in the city, having memorized their oral history to pass down to future generations. She is a high priestess of the Church of Selune in the city.

A bookish and mild-mannered, Jade is one of the diplomatic faces of the party. She will always try to find an equitable solution before resorting to any kind of violence. She prefers to keep to herself when resting up in the Hunter Lodge, journaling her adventures for future archival record. She's almost always seen with a book under her arm in passing.

  • She does not consider herself beholden to the Hunters' traditions, like forgoing your birth name in favor of a hunter's name. She only wears her mask when she has to, whether that be while exploring the Blizzard or meeting with high-ranking officials. While she is fluent in Hunter sign, she prefers speaking face-to-face whenever possible.

  •  Story

  • Mizuki Gunnlöð, daughter of Mistilteinn, is one of the Church of Selune's best kept secrets. Hidden from Lunarian and Azurite society, knowledge of her existence was known only to a select few priests under Mistilteinn's direct orders. Mizuki grew up a lonely child, her only companion her age was her younger brother. Her madness manifested as a form of extreme loneliness, requiring her to stay near people in order to function.

Raised and expected by her mother to eventually take her place as head of the Church of Selune, Mizuki took her priesthood training seriously. The history of her people left a lasting impact on her, dreaming every night of the moment her people would be reunited with their comrades on the Moon. A scholar at heart, Mizuki voraciously studied books on any subject she could get her hands on. She eventually integrated into Azurite society, working as an archivist in the City Archives. No one was aware of her birthright.

One night, while studying an old book in the Azurite archives, Mizuki found a clue that could bring her dream closer to fruition. A few decades ago, a Hunter team brought back an artifact found on an expedition in the North. The description noted it had markings of Lunarian design.

With her mother's permission Mizuki infiltrated the Hunters, at age 16, surviving the trials and taking the name Jade Rabbit. She swears no allegiance to the Hunters or to the city, only to her Mother, her people, and her Goddess. One day, she will lead her people home.

Act I - She was assigned late to a group of already-experienced Hunters: Chance, Laeden, and Stray Falcon. In the Hunters, Jade worked to recover ambrosia from the various hives throughout the region, including a hive of bee people, a chess-themed hive, and a hive where the dead still had stories to tell. On one such excursion, the party watched the moon rise over a far-off mountain. Jade took this as a sign that her decision was leading somewhere.

On one excursion, Jade and the group entered a satellite town of the Azure City, only to realize too late they had walked into a trap - the town had been captured by Sienna, self-proclaimed leader of the Wildlings. She took the group captive and introduced them to her secret weapon: Fire. Banned from the city and considered taboo, Sienna planned to conquer the city and melt it to the ground. She released the Hunters, ordering them to warn the city she's coming.

While the rest of the party warns the city of the impending invasion, Jade meets with Mistleteinn to discuss a secret mission. They will send Charger, a Hunter scout, north to investigate the mountain she had seen at the spire. She sets off, without a clue as to what the Lunarians expect her to find.

While the Azure City sent warriors to intercept Sienna, the Hunters were sent to gather more Ambrosia. They encountered a dead hive, its last few residents barely clinging to life as phantoms. Jade and Chance fed Queen's Ambrosia to an Eadi and created Veenix, a cure sprite from the old world. She revitalized the hive and escorted the group back to the city, with barely enough ambrosia to keep it going for another year...

Act II - At the start of year 600, the party is ordered to head South to find any hope of keeping the city going while it is engaged with Sienna's forces. The party travels as far south as it can, to the Storm Wall. As they engage with terrifying and powerful monsters, the group breaks through and emerges...in a desert where the sun never sets.

Shortly after arriving, the party is ambushed by a group of Lupercal and captured. They arrive at the Clan of the Moon, a city of Lupercal that Jade is initially enamored with. The clan has scrolls of knowledge that the Azurites would only dream of, and access to fire magic. The party meets with the Priestess of the clan, who brings them up to speed: The Clans of the Sun and Moon have been at war for centuries - the Moon clan believes wiping out the Sun clan will remove the sun from the sky and return the moon. The party sets out from the Clan of the Moon to try and find another way to end this.

While in the desert, the party enters the Temple of the Eclipse, where they encounter The Despoiler, who commands the powers of a god. After she is defeated, they meet the god of the sun, Solaar. He had been imprisoned and initially was wary of Jade, calling her a daughter of Selune with fear. He told them that Selune... "wasn't right," and that the Moon Clan were a death cult bent on destroying the one people that could help the desert.

Solaar told the group that the Sun Clan, in a few days would commence a ceremony in his name, where he could regain more of his powers and try to bring balance back to the desert and heat to the Azure City so they could grow food. The party arrived at the Sun Clan's city as the Moon Clan began their march. They had only days to meet with their High Priestess and prepare before they would be at war. Jade, during the downtime, tracked down a Sun Clan priestess and learned fire magic from her in secret.

The Moon Clan quickly took over the city, slaying almost everyone they could find. The party fought a hard battle against one of the Moon Clan generals, killing him, but not before he killed Jade in combat. The party carried her corpse out of the city and retreated with the few survivors to a Spire. Solaar, dejected, ordered the party to return to the Azure city, revive Jade, and try to find a way to "fix" Selune as she would be their next concern...

Act III - As the party less one makes their way to the storm wall, they encounter Moon Jumper, a fellow Hunter and Lunarian. He is shocked by their tale of what happened in the desert, and brings them up to speed on what they had missed in the year they were gone:

Charger had found more Lunarians, but... wrong. They were bloodthirsty, killing anyone they could find. The Azure City and Sienna forged a loose pact to defend each other from this new threat. The Hunters were scattered - a group of zealous civilians blamed them as a scapegoat for their problems and killed as many in the city as they could find. Half of their already-small number had been wiped out in a single bloody night. The Lunarians of the city had been locked up for their own safety in the city jails.

Moon Jumper plans on killing whoever is leading the Lunar Rabbits, and cannot stay with the party long. However, they manage to convince him to bring Jade's body to Mistleteinn in hopes of reviving their fallen comrade. The party begins the long journey north, unsure of what they will encounter in this new landscape...

In the Azure City, Moon Jumper sneaks past the civilian guards and finds the Lunarians locked in the castle. He drops off Jade's corpse onto her Mistleteinn and leaves without saying anything. Mistleteinn begins the ritual of revival - she is met with opposition at the use of rare materials, and she reveals Jade's identity. "I am the High Priestess, but I am a mother first and foremost."

When Jade is revived, she is brought up to speed on the state of affairs. Mistleteinn also reveals that Moon Jumper is Jade's half-brother, and asks her to bring him home. She is worried that his warlock pact with The Exile is corrupting him and will be his end.

Jade agrees, and eventually links up with the party as they camp outside the city. She introduces herself as Mizuki, scion of the Lunarians and asks to join them in their journey north.

  •  Mistilteinn Mother
The leader of the Lunarians and high priestess of the Church of Selune in the Azure City. Jade keeps close ties with her and keeps her updated on the Hunters' activities, and any information relating to their goals.
  •  Veenix   Friend
A cure sprite that appeared when Jade conducted an experiment with Queen's Ambrosia. At a single touch, she can temporarily remove Jade's lunacy, causing her eyes to turn blue. Jade finds her a fascinating point of study, unsure just *what* she is.
  •  Laeden   Party Member
A tall Arietalis woman in the same party. Jade does not trust Laeden at all on account of the color of her hair - red. She keeps her distance, often referring to her as "the red one," or simply "Red."
  •  Moon Dragon   Brother
A fellow Hunter, Jade's younger brother was also hidden at birth. He works to help train the drakes in the city, and has one as his companion. Mistilteinn has asked Jade to keep an eye on him and ensure his lunacy does not cause trouble for himself - or for the Church.
  •  "Why do Moon Rabbits hate the color red so much?"
"Hm. I suppose this is a difficult first question to answer, Laeden. In the Church, red is an taboo color. It represents betrayal, deception, and cheating. We do not easily trust those who drape themselves in it, including you."
