[ Childhood ]

In childhood, Annika is a wisp of a girl: flickering and pale and so hard to define. Her mind is a mystery to most, her heart is a sheltered place that opens itself reluctantly even to (rare) closest ones. Annika’s coping mechanism is holding it all in, fearing sharing her innermost thoughts as if they are nothing but an unworldly little nuisance not worthy talking about. In fact, she gets overwhelmed easily, and emotions take a strong hold of her in case something goes slightly wrong. She is a soft-spoken girl, quiet and passive until she’s adressed; sensitive to every ill word, anxious over slightest signs of stress, vulnerable to every person using her. She’s especially dependent on those she holds close and considers a family, which borderlines a clingy personality, making her even more self-reflective and paranoid.

Awkwardly charming, Annika’s innocence and child-like wonder make her all the more endearing. She’s a romantic, seeing the world from a different angle, invisible to others: her heart is in the clouds, her soul is dancing with the fairies and her mind is walking in the peaceful foggy dreamlands. It can be hard, finding anything that can ground her, for her attention is rarely shifted to the earthly things; it almost seems like she came from another world, always looking at the stars above and finding great comfort in their softness. But maybe it’s not just wistful thinking - for the stars started speaking to her in dreams, calling her home.

[ Teenhood ]

As she got older, Annika found herself facing dangerous battles, tricky enemies and life-threatening decisions. No stranger to loss & trauma, the girl has learned to hold tight to those who ground her and appreciate what she has. Above everything Nika values loyalty, and once won, she becomes a faithful companion, fighting for both her rights and the rights of her kin. But trust does not come easily to her these days: after experiencing too many betrayals and unexpected revelations, Annika has lost her faith and sense of self-worth. Her world has been shattered and reborn too many times to count, and she doesn’t know who to trust, not confiding in strangers anymore. Still, beneath the layer of mistrust, there is her sympathy and loyalty and almost maternal urge to protect and pamper others. Annika is a lot kinder to people she holds dear, expressing affections in her sober, yet gentle and caring way. She is a girl of action who doesn’t outright declare her love - but to her friends and kin, it’s obvious anyways that she does feel great love for them.

Mostly, older Annika is a girl of suppressed emotions: acting true to her image of an iron lady, she goes through everything with a clear head and unclouded judgement, even though it can be hard with such deep boiling emotions. She may have her moments of harshness, as she has got considerably more precise and perfectionistic, but overall she remembers that being gentle and seeking understanding of those she cares for is far wiser than letting emotions get the better of her. Annika is a naturally peaceful person, so conflicts are the last things she’d want to resort to. Underneath the private shell, there is a girl who cares more about the needs of her family and friends than her own: and although kind of stern, she is undoubtedly motherly and selfless.

[ Story ]

Sheltered since early childhood, Annika hasn't really grown out of her childish naivety & innocence, instead closing off more and more from the pressure of outside world, where the peers judge her every weird move and studies overwhelm her gentle heart just too much. The product of her mysticism-obsessed mother's teachings, Nika believes in fate and the wisdom of the universe to guide her along life, thus not making any effort in shaping herself into someone other, new, better. However not even her keen clairvoyance could help her predict the adventures she'll find in Equitana - a fantastical world to which a mysterious white mare has led her one ordinary day. Now Annika faces the dilemma of finding her way back home to Earth, not without making some friends and enemies along the way. But... what if Equitana actually feels like her true home?

[ Strenght & abilities ]

Sure-footed and agile, Annika is much more powerful than she seems and even uses her build for tricking enemies to underestimate her strength before surprising them. She’s volatile when it comes to combat, practically gliding across the battlefield effortlessly, making quite a spectacle out of herself. But perhaps her true strength lies in her dexterity in the saddle and proficient riding skills: once fearful of even thinking of horseback riding, Annika has grown into a fine and attentive rider - the love of horses is written in her blood.

• Annika is highly conscious of her tall height and can't help feeling awkward and clumsy because of it. She's started growing out of it by late teens though.
• Despite her natural deep love for horses, in childhood she was actually scared of riding them in fears she might've lost control and hurt herself or the horse.
• Annika has a particular liking for birds and everything avian: internally, she always envied them for the gift of flight. Besides riding a pegasus, she keeps a female gyrfalcon, Erya, as a personal falconer's bird.
• Her favourite places are usually either coastlands or flower fields, especially heather.
• Annika is well accustomed to colder environments, and her thick wispy hair provides much needed heat in cold weather.

• Though naturally frail and airy, seasons spent horseback and battling have transformed her into quite a graceful and strong-figured girl. At first glance Annika appears rather lithe and lanky, sporting disproportionately long limbs, thin features and unfeminine broad shoulders. But despite such outward appearance, she’s anything but weak and isn’t lacking in strength.
• Annika's eyelashes are pale-coloured; her hair is also very pale blond, but its the roots are dark, of dusty grey-ish colour, notably seen in the brows.
• In late teens, Annika somewhat changes her image and starts wearing a new hairstyle, half-shaved temples with a high ponytail.
• By late teens Annika acquires few scars as well: one particular (invisible) scar crosses her right temple down to the brow, cutting it in half.
