Living in the forest around his home town has taken it's toll, this once content boy having turned into exactly what his mother and father told him to fear. 

The setting is this very peaceful ancient japan theme with lanterns and small houses inside of the towns border walls, its hidden away behind some dense forest and beside some beautiful mountains and hills with fog lacing the tops of them, so the scenery is super beautiful and untouched. When Vis was younger, early teens, he was plagued with a mysterious illness that was known to kill the pure of heart in the town, vis' family, wracked with worry and not having any other way to help aid him, sought out darker means of saving their child. They went to a dark spirit healer, offering whatever they had to heal their boy.

 The man agreed, but upon giving his treatment, their son was possessed by a dark spirit. He brutally killed his parents, and many others trying to stop his possession induced rage, but nobody prevailed in stopping him. He escaped and ran off into the forest, living there for years and slowly learning how to get his new spirit link under control and docile. With it; came shadow abilities and weakness, he soon learned about his inability to touch any form of natural light, sunlight and fire draining his mana and weakening him, severe exposure even going as far as ending his life. Hence why his body is covered in wrappings, and his large brimmed hat being a part of his attire. 

He suffers with the constant reminder of his merciless killings, never forgiving himself for the death of his kind parents who only wanted a healthy son. Not only suffering that, but the inability to go back to his home, due to the lanterns and fire being a danger to him.
