- As a filly, Ruby lived in Cloudsdale with her dad for a long time, until they moved to Canterlot so that her dad could move in with a unicorn who would become Ruby's step-mother. Ruby eventually grew to dislike her step-mother greatly, maybe even hate her, as the mare was very strict on what Ruby could and could not do: she controlled how she portrayed herself to the world, and to Ruby it felt as though the unicorn was ashamed of who she was, and this made her mad. As soon as Ruby was old enough, she packed her bags and took the first train to Manehattan, where she couch surfed for a bit, and did odd jobs around the city, until one night she stumbled upon a club and slipped in to see what it was about. When she saw the rock band performing in the place she was completely blown away, the aesthetic, the noise, the energy, Ruby loved everything about it, this is where she felt she was meant to be, despite always having a penchant for music rock was what opened her eyes and it's where Ruby gains her cutie mark. From that point Ruby changes everything abput herself, she dyes and cuts her mane and tail, pierces her ears, and makes group of friends with which she starts her own band, a guitarist griffin named Gem, a pegasus drummer named Onyx Thunder and a [x] bassist named [y] (i havent come up with them yet lol).
