Luca is a sort of mean fella. He’s very cold and uncaring, and only seems to think about his own mysterious goals. It’s not clear what his plan was with becoming a priest, but he actually does fill the role well. He couldn’t be genuinely faithful to a god and still treat people like that, right? Luca can behave well in public, it’s mostly his live-in charges, Nils and Fritz, who get the brunt of his nastiness.  

As he is only a mere human after all, he employs Nils and Fritz to investigate supernatural crimes around town, in return for providing sanctuary from their past lives and crimes. 

This is from an old unused story, but I'm pretty sure the joke is Luca acts super shady, but turns out he really is just a regular mean human.
