Story
Pre-Adventure
Vadoma's life began in Roderick's Cove, Varisia, to a family in a traveling caravan. Although growing up under relatively normal circumstances, her peers couldn't help but notice that she was a little off; staring off into space for prolonged amounts of time, occasionally hearing things, and getting chills regardless of how warm it was being only a few of these indicators. However, she was healthy, and she was able to pull her weight in the caravan, so the odd behavior was looked over and forgotten about by her peers and eventually Vadoma herself. That was until her seventeenth year, when a close friend of Vadoma's- a girl by the name of Fivka- was found dead in a nearby river. Having no witnesses to what had happened, it was presumed that she had fallen into the river, hit her head, and drowned. Following Fivka's death, Vadoma's strange behavior worsened.
She began to endure horrible nightmares about her departed friend; dreams of being struck in the head, falling into dark water, mud filling her lungs, and an overwhelming sense of hurt and betrayal. She soon began to see Fivka during her waking hours, catching glimpses of her sitting just outside the light of her fire, standing on the edge of forest and field, a silhouette passing by her window at night... and perhaps it was delirium from lack of sleep, but Vadoma began to speak to her, and was surprised when she received an answer. From these encounters, Vadoma learned of Fivka's true fate:
While choring at the river, another member of their caravan- a man by the name of Danior- had approached Fivka. Danior was a trusted member of the caravan, and at the time, had been a good friend to Fivka. Although she had made her stance on their friendship clear, Danior wished to be something more, which was what had brought him to the river that day. When Fivka refused him, he lashed out in a moment of anger, striking her unconscious. Realizing what he had done, and too afraid to face the consequences of his actions, he drowned her and left her to be found in the river.
Because of her untimely death, Fivka's spirit refused to pass on, and so was bound to the material plane to wander in pain and confusion. Not knowing the danger of what she was about to do, Vadoma offered herself to Fivka, allowing herself to be possessed in an attempt to harbor and comfort her friend. With access to a physical body, and welling with betrayal and anger, Fivka used the opportunity to exact revenge upon Danior; to make him experience the same fear and pain that she had. Vadoma awoke the next morning to find an unconscious Danior, beaten within an inch of his life in his tent. Fivka was gone.
Upon the discovery of what she had done, and after Vadoma adamantly attested to what had happened, she was mercifully exiled. Although she felt genuine guilt over what she had done, it was nothing compared to the amount of agony she had felt when Fivka had possessed her, and deep down, she knew what she had done was justified if it meant that a soul could move on. Now on her own, Vadoma embraced her talent for communing with the dead, allowing herself to fully see the spirits that were tethered to the world, turning to the worship of Pharasma and dedicating her life to putting souls to rest... although she would take great care not to lose herself again.
Having wandered around Varisia for several decades, she learned of the recent bloody Kintargan Revolution, and traveled down along the coast of Nidal to the newly established confederation of Ravounel. She found good work there putting to rest those killed in during the conflict who had not yet moved on, and was content. That was, until she was approached by a representative of Countess Urora Sarini, who just so happened to be looking to employ the talents of a trained Medium...
Post-Adventure
After putting the horrific events of Crooked Cove to rest, Vadoma would go on to continue her work in Ravounel. Although definitely shaken by the experience, she understands that, having lived through the ordeal, Pharasma was not yet done with her, and she did her best to put Xarwin Manor behind her. Having been invited back to the city of Kintargo by Countess Sarini to attend the city's culture summit in recognition for her service, Vadoma would meet another band of adventurers that were guests of the Archbaroness Eldonna Aulamaxa. Ironically, it would be these same adventurers that would approach her shortly after, asking for her guidance in dealing with a dangerous and powerful Litch that had reared its ugly head during the festivities. Vadoma agreed, and aided them in the taking down and laying to rest of the threat.
Not much was seen of Vadoma after that, though some say she might have traveled farther inland to aid Ravounels smaller towns, forever continuing to usher souls to their eternal reward.
