Tashen's current President, though nearing the end of his twenty-five-year term, his time in government is drawing to a close. With an impressive set of negotiations under his belt, however, the public pressure to remain as a member of the cabinet is high, with many citing his skill in convincing a rogue Vollan commander to peacefully retreat from Ciewule Isle, one of Tashen's territories. 

But Sihreen does not plan to join the cabinet. Rather, he doesn't plan to stay in Tashen at all - as a mysterious offer from the powerful Tine, immortal and invulnerable ruler of Passane, has been resting on his mind since the earliest days of his presidency. Torn between his loyalties to his country, the destruction of his career, and Tine's shocking interest in him, Sihreen finds himself pulled in a dozen directions.
