Personality //
Roicel, in a word, is a complete grump. He suffers from insomnia due to complications with his third eye, leaving him perpetually moody and snappish. He has zero patience or tolerance for just about anyone or anything--even when around those he cares for he's still often got a sour exprsesion on.
Bio //
Roicel lives in a small township outside the capital. What he does for a living is a mystery to most, even those 'close' to him. He expertly side-steps the subject when it comes up, leaving people to make thier own assumptions. The most popular rumor going around is that he's involved in some criminal organization like the black market.
In reality, although they're not totally off with the 'being outside of the law' part, what he does is nothing seedy or bad. Well, mostly. He primarily does his work as a sort of 'string puller,' offering connections and solutions for those who need to avoid involvement with authorities or trouble organizations. Roicel has a code to his work, and although some of what he does might be illegal, it's mostly to help others out. He's orchestrated escape routes for slaves or the unrightfully wanted, prepared sanctuaries, and came to the aid of outlaw groups working for the right cause. Roicel isn't typically hands-on in a lot of situations he aids, but more of a behind the scenes helper in most cases.
As a kid, Roicel was taken in by a small group of outlaws with similar values. They were eventually lead against a corrupt organization loosely affiliated with the government that was lording their position of power unrightfully. Although the wrong-doers were overthrown, the outlaw group's leader was killed in the process. Afterwords the group disbanded and went their separate ways to settle down and live their own lives. They still keep in touch, though, and will occassionally come together to help others out in times of need. This is how Roicel came into the life and position he has now.
After the outlaw group he was a part of disbanded, Roicel went in search of a nice, quiet place to settle down. At this time, his third eye had begun acting up and leaving him with terrble headaches and even worse insomia. By chance, he wandered through a small village just oustide of the capital. There he met Nikolai, who instantly recognized his plight and offered him help with containing his parasitic thrid eye and undoing some of the damage.
When the potions Nikolai provided helped, Roicel decided to choose that township as his new home.
Randoms Notes/Facts //
-Roicel has excellent one-handed swordsmanship. He's a great fighter, although his stature would suggest otherwise.
-He prefers to spend his evenings quietly reading.
-Roicel is excellent at chess.
-There are ever-present bags under his eyes due to lack of sleep.
-He is a bit unusually short, but don't mistake him for a child -- Roicel is ~30 (give or take a few years, cuz I don't really care about hard ages FFF - I just vaguely imagine him somewhere between 27 and 33)
Relationships //
Nikolai -
Nikolai is one of Roicel's closest friends--although you'd never catch him admitting it even under pain of death. Although he hardly even admits it to himself, he really does like and appreciate Nikolai. Even if he is too energetic and never shuts up about alchemy and his weird potion experiments--ever. Although Roicel still suffers from inproper sleep, it's thanks to Nikolai's potions that his third eye is kept at bay and his lack of dust is properly treated.
Roicel repays Nikolai the best he can by offering his help or services whenever the other dreamy requires them.
Even if he's rude to Nikolai himself, he will literally cut anyone who mistreats him otherwise.
Teslan -
Roicel's main booty-squeezer B)))
They met through a job Roicel was on to accompany a caravan to a safe location. At the time, Teslan was living as a bandit and made the mistake of attempting to rob this particular wagon. It ended in utter failure and Teslan was caught and bound. A bit of low-toned, heated discussion and threatening between the two later, and Teslan was head over heels for Roicel. He followed after him heedlessly and refused to leave Roicel alone.
Eventually the constant attention and flirting caused the tension to snap and before he'd realized or ever wanted to admit it, Roicel was pretty damn deep into a relationship with the one time thief.
He hates the man with a dying passion because he loves him so much and will cut the tongue out of anyone who mentions it and refuses to even entertain the word in his own head. (Honestly, Roicel just has a problem admitting he can have feelings beyond hate or apathy for anything.)
Regardless, they're pretty close and anyone can clearly see they're together. He's reaaallllyyy not doing a good job of hiding anything there.
