Maxine

Maxine is a kind-hearted yet eccentric desert-dwelling Chimereon. She's 5'4" without the cactus ears. While she may appear withdrawn at first glance, the introverted girl has quite a lot of enthusiasm once you get to know her. Anyone who befriends her might find that she’s even quite talkative if given the chance to enthuse about her interests!

Maxine is intended to be something of a Chamsona, as she takes inspiration from a lot of my own life, but she's still a standalone character as-is.

When Maxine was born, her parents were unsure if she'd make it past infancy. She was sickly, fragile baby Chimereon, so unwell that her family worried she wouldn't make it. After taking her to a doctor, Maxine was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a hereditary condition affecting the lungs and digestive system.

Fast forward to several years later, and Maxine grew up healthy as can be for someone with her condition, all thanks to modern medicine. She lives in the desert and owns a cactus nursery where she sells cacti and bakes using prickly pears — not the fruit grown on her body, of course.

Maxine is an eccentric but big-hearted Chimereon! She doesn't always understand social norms, having grown up in the middle of the desert, but once she opens up to someone, she has a hard time not being enthusiastic.

Maxine's colors typically change throughout the day, with her light pink color scheme representing morning and daytime and her vibrant and darker colors fitting evening and night. She may, however, change colors rapidly or suddenly due to shifting emotions, such as when she's surprised.

• The prickly pear fruit on her ears is real and edible. If the fruit falls off naturally, she might make a quick snack out of it when nobody's looking.
• Maxine bakes and cooks in her free time. She's still pretty new to it, but she's got the enthusiasm. If you notice any prickly pears being cooked into her food... don't worry. It's not from her ears. Promise.
• The cactuses growing from her body are specifically Eastern Prickly Pears, Opuntia Humifusa! Though Maxine lives in the desert, she's from an East Coast area.
