Kat

| He/She/They | Genderfluid | Anthro Shaped cloud of nanites |

Kat is a genderfluid lion/tiger/dragon hybrid that recently got into an accident that left them stuck in the form of a mass of nanites, with controlled by 7 processors in the shape of orbs, each orb holding part of their mind. While the nanite form looks humanoid, it breaks down anything it touches, so in that form Kat can't do much. As such, they've worked on creating temporary physical bodies they can control. These allow them to interact with stuff, but they're temporary as the nanites eventually break them down to the point of being unusable.

Details/Abilities

The Seven Processors (Orbs)Kat has seven processors in the shape of orbs around them at all times. These serve two primary purposes. The first being control over the nanites that make up Kat's physical form. Without the orbs to control them, the nanites become inert. As such, the orbs must maintain an organization that keeps all nanites within range of at least one orb at any given time. The second function is that the orbs each contain a portion of Kat's personality and Memories. All seven together form the person that is Kat, and if one is separated, it has a significant effect on the rest.
Curiosity Orb (Blue)The Curiosity orb holds the strongest part of Kat's personality. It serves as a counterbalance to Restraint and is the orb they usually keep within their body. As the name suggests, it holds Kat's strong curiosity, but it also holds their motivation, impulsiveness, and passion. This processor handles much of Kat's moment-to-moment decision making. It it quick to decide, using minimal resources or research, handling the many many tiny decisions that are made without even realizing it. Due to Kat's impulsive nature, however, they can sometimes use this orb for making decisions that are better suited for their restraint orb. These decisions are made without concern for long-term consequences or counter-arguments. This most frequently happens if Kat's eagerness for an answer outpowers Restraint's slower decision making, instead pushing it to Curiosity just to get a result quicker.
If separated from the system, Kat quickly gets overwhelmed by the negative and restrictive emotions of the Restraint orb, which can cause decision paralysis, depression, paranoia, and even difficulty consuming enough material to properly maintain their form. These persist until the balance of the Curiosity orb is restored.
Restraint Orb (Yellow)The Restraint orb serves as a counterbalance to the Curiosity orb, serving as a needed restraint for the whole being. It holds Kat's fear, concern, hesitation, and regret.  This processor handles most of Kat's calculated decision making. It weighs each decision against the possible negative results or unintended side effects, consulting past experience, environmental context, knowledge on the topic, etc. It is slower at getting results than the Curiosity orb, but much more capable of properly handling larger and more complex decisions.
If separated from the system, Kat effectively loses all inhibition. All decisions get pushed to the Curiosity orb, resulting in all decisions, large and small, being decided with no consideration of the consequences. From large conscious decisions such as testing out an idea on someone or something... to smaller unconscious decisions like how much of their surroundings to break down to add to their mass.
Null Orb (White)The Null orb holds the least of Kat's personality, but is still one of the most critical in the system. It maintains the robotic functions of Kat's nanite system. Such as making sure the other orbs remain in balance and do their functions, maintaining a proper nanite count that isn't too high or too low, and limiting Kat from doing things that would be harmful to the system. It's the equivalent of the part of a human's brain that makes sure the heart keeps pumping blood, the lungs keep bringing in air, etc. It is also the orb that has prevented Kat from fully reversing the transformation into the nanite being, as doing so would go against its function of maintaining the nanite system, and so it holds Kat back from any true attempts at turning to an organic being permanently again.
Business Orb (Orange)Holds Kat's executive function. Their ability to focus and prioritize tasks.
RedTBD
Friendly Orb (Green)Holds Kat's empathy.
PurpleTBD

F.A.Q.s
What happens if the orbs go out of range? Kat's systems will become unstable if it doesn't have all seven orbs, as Kat will lose that part of their personality along with any associated memories that were in the orb. The orbs will do everything in their power to reunite with the missing orb in order to restore balance. Though if separated long enough, the other orbs will begin the process of building a new orb to replace the lost one. The new orb will serve the same function in the system, but it won't be the same as the old one. It would not regain any of the lost memories or personality, starting out as a blank slate and causing a permanent shift in Kat's personality.
A separated orb will also want to return to the system, though its behavior and methods of doing so will vary depending on the orb that is separated. In general, they will act on an animal-like instinctual level.
Can Kat create more Orbs?Kat cannot create more than 7 orbs, as it's a hard-limit built into the very foundation of their systems. If they loses one or more orbs, they can create new ones, at great cost to themselves (see above), but never more than a total of seven.
What happens if an Orb gets destroyed? If an orb gets destroyed, the system will rebuild it, but it won't regain the memories and personality of the old orb. As such, this would cause a permanent shift in Kat's behavior, personality, and/or identity.
Why does Kat have smoke coming off of them? It's not smoke. It's actually nanites that are burning up and breaking away from the body. Kat is constantly burning through their supply of nanites, which is why they need to continually break down matter to replenish themselves.
Can you touch Kat in their nanite form? You can.
Should you touch Kat in their nanite form? Probably not.
What happened to Kat's journal? When Kat was broken down into nanites, it got broken down with her, and a such got integrated into the system as a whole. Whether they like it or not, the journal is a part of them now. They aren't quite sure how to control it yet, though, as it sometimes activates unintentionally, and sometimes wont' activate when they try.
The Null orb, however, sees the constant magic energy being generated throughout the nanites as 'foreign material' and is constantly trying to expel it from the system. Though with it being an endless (but not infinite) generation, it's never able to fully get rid of it.
