Jae

As the group's designated Visual, Jae is the "Golden Maknae" of Midnight, being good at everything: Jae's smart, arguably the most attractive, can sing a beautiful falsetto, dances second best to Min-jun, and can rap. If he wasnt so quiet, he'd be a one man act LOL. Jae prefers to remain back and chill, watching the others do what they do and silently support them, being the cheerleader of the group. He's also the most popular of the members, leading CK even though he barely shows up in their TV appearances lol. The managers don't have any issues with Jae, and tend to talk to him about performance things to relay to the others. He always has tea on him and looks judgy, but that's only because he has small eyes lmao. Nam-il trashes him the least.

He doesnt have beef with anyone, and is notorious for making new friends everywhere he goes. He knows a lot of languages, and can learn pretty quickly, so when Midnight travels, Jae's the outreach rep lol but he doesnt talk much so it ends up backfiring. All of the members appreciate him and can hang out with him under any situation. The only thing is that CK thinks he's a ghost because no one ever sees Jae around but CK somehow hears him in the room or notices when a door closes and gets scared lol. He's also the dead-pan one, being likely to be the flat commentator on the antics in the house, and he times all of the wrestling matches the guys have over food disputes.

Jae has the most tragic background out of all of them. No one knows this, but Jae's actually trans (FTM) and is currently transitioning. His family is poor, and his dad left home when he was 6 to go work overseas and send money over. Jae's mother wanted to be an idol when she was younger, and raised Jae to live vicariously through him. Jae was literally raised to be a cute, very feminine idol, but he realised very young that he didn't feel right in his body. Jae eventually tells his mother he's trans, which makes her become verbally abusive, and by his 12th birthday, Jae gets put out after refusing to present as female anymore. He didn't want to give up on being an idol, feeling like that's his only way to make it up to his mom, so he trained for a year for idol try-outs while living in a homeless shelter, this time aiming to enter as a boy. Luckily, 4 months before try-outs, a kind young couple hears him singing for money on the street and decides to take him in. They allow him to take their last name and help Jae go through the legal process to change his first name and gender so he can get through try-outs without having his birth-sex questioned. They also get him his first hormone treatments, which Jae appreciated more than anything in his life up to that point. Jae gets through try-outs without a hitch and is placed with Midnight after like 3 months as a trainee, since he'd been prepared to be an idol since birth. He still sends money to his adopted parents and calls them often, but unfortunately he's lost touch with his birth mother; his biological dad still doesn't know his kid's been disowned.
