CK

Chang-hoon comes from a fairly well to do family, and his parents are very traditional, conservative people who were fairly strict with their son. His parents began cultivating CK's vocal talents at a young age, hoping he would become an opera singer. They sent him to America for vocal lessions when he was 12, thinking their son could learn from professionals abroad. What they didn't expect was for the kid to be exposed to Black culture and the 'gangster' scene; CK was immediately drawn in by this "other", and imitated what he saw, feeling that it was his way to break free of his strict, boring lifetyle. He switched from opera lessons to R&B and Soul with a quickness. CK came back to Korea decked out in chains, the newest Jordan's, and a habit of using traditional African American slang, specifically yelling "weave" when dodging girls or saying "Oh word?" in English for all responses lmao. His parents were mortified. Believing to have lost their son to the dreadful "blackness" they decided to send him to idol try-outs, realizing that a lot of Black culture as appropriated into Kpop. They THOUGHT CK would ease up on his thug-life act if surrounded by other Korean boys, and also that backlash from Black listeners would snap him out of it, but instead it only solidified his belief that he somehow turned Black XD. Even after meeting Min-jun, who actually IS half Black, he still didn't get the memo (and thus Min-jun argues with CK all the time).

CK is the leader of Midnight, and also the lead singer. He's the second most popular member, behind Jae, and functions as squad "dad", but mostly the annoying big brother who irritates everyone in some way lmao. He can be fatherly at times, especially during concerts or social events when it's important to keep the younger members in check. Otherwise he causes the most trouble XD. He tries really hard to be this big, stone-cold, thug, but ends up more flamboyant and, well... a hot mess. LOL

Under that 'hard', badboy exterior, there's a softer, more responsible side to him. He cares a lot for his younger members, and does his best to give them attention when they need it. Huang and CK are the 'parents' and talk about their 'kids' all the time, but do most of the parenting apart lol. CK teases all of the members, playfully, and does the most to get the others to interact with him, though this causes some of them (specifically Min-jun) to grow very irritated with him. He means well for the most part, but if you ask the others, he has no redeeming qualities lol.
