Ever since he was born, Isaakios has lived up to his name. Meaning 'he laughs, child of laughter', he has always taken life with a smile on his face and laughter in his voice. Once his brothers were born, it became easier to shine brightly for they became the joy of his life. Athanasius was a stubborn child and Erasmus a diffident youth, but he held an endless patience for both of them. There was nothing that made him happier than watching the two of them blossom and grow as individuals.
Life was good, but it was not destined to stay that way. Years of content passed, but one day the body of a fellow peryton was found dead with one of his antlers through his chest, one of the only ways to kill their species. Isaak was now part of the council, so he joined the others in a meeting, and it was decided that war with the manticores was coming. All those with enough training were to fight.
War came quickly, and it only took a few days to realize that it was not just a war, but a slaughter, and it would not end until one species was wiped out.Those that were not yet fighting, including Erasmus, were called to fight. Isaak knew the youngest brother was not ready for a real battle, but nothing could be done. He ended up watching Erasmus get struck down before he could reach him.
The war ended quickly, but in the end neither side won. One manticore and only a handful of perytons survived, including Isaak and Athan. Isaak tried his hardest to help his brother out of the mental hell he was in, but nothing worked and soon Athan left to be on his own, leaving Isaakios in a broken village and with a breaking heart.
