Gentle

Jeremy is incapable of hurting even a fly. He cares about others in the way he wants to be cared for but has rarely experienced in life. He never wants anyone to have to go through what he went through, and he will cry for those who have.

Summary

It would not be wrong to say Jeremy was born and raised in Hell. His father was abusive, and his mother left a year after his sister was born. It was unknown what was wrong with his mother, but she was mentally unstable and could not take it anymore, so she left without taking her kids since she would not have been able to care for them. The beatings that his father gave his mother then turned to him. The older he got, the worse it became, but he never once thought about running away. Some days the angels were busy looking out for other people, so on those days he had to take their place and protect his sister. He endured the beatings, mainly from a belt, so his sister did not have to. He would hide her, and then when everything was done he would tell her it would all be ok, because one day it would be.

This went on for years, and it got worse when Jeremy turned twelve. His father learned that his son was gay and sexual abuse was added to the beatings to show his son what he could expect by being with another guy. Just like with the beatings, Jeremy endured this, but when he was fourteen it looked like his father was going to start going after his sister. He didn’t fight back, he couldn’t fight back, but he begged his father to take him instead. Somehow it worked, and after that he worked harder to make sure his father stayed away from his sister.

When he was sixteen, he finally allowed his best friend, Louis, to know what was going on at home. His friend was horrified by the news, but just as he was his sister's angel, Louis became his. That night, for the first time, Jeremy experienced what it was like to truly be loved.

Seventeen is when the sexual abuse finally stopped, and he spent time when his dad was not home making money. He planned on leaving as soon as he turned 18, taking his sister with him, and that is what he did. When the time came, he packed up and he and his sister left home for good. While this was a positive point in his life, it also held some negative as he had to leave Louis behind. His friend would have come with, but Jeremy insisted he finish school so he would be able to follow his dreams.

After that he lost touch with Louis, not because he wanted to but because his only connection to the man, his phone, had been accidentally left behind. Unable to go back for it, he spent years wondering what had happened to Louis. His lucky break came while he was at a gay club twelve years later. It ended up that Louis worked there, and two of them were reunited.
