Rimworld City

Rimworld City is the oldest and one of the largest human cities in Dactyl. Spanning 200 kilometers of the eastern rim of Dactus, Rimworld City is the largest rimcity. Rimworld City completely surrounds Neue Lake, and the Edelworth Dyke was constructed between 1520 and 1564 to protect this lake from spilling down into the void. The northern part of Rimworld City is partially built around Creston Lake.

Rimworld City serves as the capitol of Cactus and holds the Purple Palace of the Mariah, as well as the Dactus Parliament. 99% of Rimworld's D+ population of 16 million are humans. The area of Rimworld City was unpopulated before humans appeared approximately 1,700 years ago, as the region is highly isolated from the rest of Dactyl. Architecture of Rimworld City is largely based on wood – as harder materials are relatively rare on Dactus – and the city has historically burnt down frequently. Rimworld is famous for its wooden technology and infrastructure. Water is pumped from the lakes and conveyed across the city and its surrounding fields through an extensive wooden pipe system.

The Rimworld City population is largely supported by the yields of the more rural lake cities south of it. Rimworld City trades extensively with other continents through Newport, and the Rimworld City government invests greatly in attempts to keep the Dactus mountain roads safe.
