My main sona. He's a character I relate to; like a heavily exaggerated, fictionalized version of me.
PERSONALITY
Miles is still figuring out who he is. After a stunted childhood and early life defined only by a sense of duty that was later taken from him, he has essentially started from scratch. He spent some time attempting to fit in, hiding who he was in order to be accepted; when that failed, he careened wildly in the other direction, determined to be true to himself no matter the cost.
Generally antisocial and distrustful, Miles can be slow to open up, and often seems tense or on-edge. He can be angry and volatile at times; it's not something he's proud of, unless it's deserved. His righteous rage is to be feared.
Experience has hardened him against emotional vulnerability to the point that he sometimes seems soulless or out-of-touch. But he has a strong sense of right and wrong, and is fiercely protective of those that need his help. Resentful of the corpo-military influence over his life, he has a rebellious streak a mile wide, and is not above seeking vengeance. Violent revolution is at the core of his ethos.
Someday he hopes to have a life that is not utterly defined by his anger and desire for revenge, but until the world changes, he cannot ignore the injustices surrounding him.
STORY
Asset M-19965, alias "Miles," was created as part of the Lazarus project, a privately-funded genetic modification project attempting to resurrect long-dead species for their use in the military and corporate security sector. The public often compared them to the fictional concept of "super-soldiers." He was created by artificially modifying and implanting Smilodon Populator DNA into an extant tiger egg cell, and displays traits from both species as a result.
Miles was genetically engineered to reach physical and mental maturity at an accelerated rate, and was trained for military service beginning at an early age. The facility he was raised in was later deemed "prison-like" and unfit for its intended use. At first, he was driven and loyal, apparently eager to fulfill his role. But doubts began to spread once information from the outside made it into the facility; outside, public opinion was divided. Many considered it unethical to create life only for warfare. Others criticized the very idea of resurrecting extinct species, and maintained that society had no place for them. The illusion of righteous, meaningful duty was shattered.
Eventually, Miles was instrumental in orchestrating a riot that led to a large-scale rebellion and escape. He is currently on the run, rumored to be involved in underground resistance groups.
APPEARANCE
Miles is tall and has a fit body type, with a medium-light build. Genetic engineering grants him physical prowess slightly above expected for his appearance; he is strong, fast, resilient, and quick to recover from injury.
Most of his coat is short, sleek grey fur with blue undertones. He has thick, long fur on his chest, cheeks, groin, and tail, and a long-furred crest that starts at the top of his head and follows his spine down to mid-back. He has a minimal number of black stripes, a white belly, and pale pink skin. He has black claws that are technically retractable, but are almost always visible. He has no tattoos or piercings.
Miles inherited a Smilodon's saber teeth and bobbed tail, though his skull and face are shaped more like an extant tiger's.
He wears a variety of clothing but has an affinity for leather jackets.
Facts
- Miles' mother is a Maltese tiger, a rumored color mutation of the Bengal tiger with blue-grey fur.
- He's usually depicted in a dystopian future or cyberpunk setting, but has no cybernetic modifications.
- He was my first furry OC, and was given a simple design to make him fursuit-friendly. His design has been almost entirely unchanged since I made him in 2017/18.
- It's unknown where he got his name from; he only started using it after escaping from the facility he was born in. It was either chosen by him, or given to him by someone he met shortly after his escape.
