Hrair'eleer

Runner of Lan-Hraeth

And, between you and me, sister; I would call it a necessary evil to spill a bit of Lan-Hraeth blood as well.

Hrair'eleer, eternal winter, is a strikingly beautiful yet cunning rabbit. She has no close familial relationships, but she does consider Marshal Asp to be trustworthy. He has no faith in the Omnis.

History

Kit

Hrair’eleer was born in midwinter during a harsh snowstorm. Her parents decided to name her and her only sibling Hrair’eleer, eternal winter, and Yereer-thray, frostbite, due to the extreme weather conditions. Food was scarce, but her mother tried her best to keep both of her kits warm and fed. During one of their first nights together as a new family, the temperature dropped dangerously low even inside the warm nursery burrow. Hrair’eleer can’t remember the night properly, but she does remember nudging closer to her mother’s warm fur while trying to kick something out of the way with her back legs. The next morning, ironically, her sibling’s name had become an omen; Yereer-thray had not survived the cold night. It was only much later that Hrair’eleer put two and two together and realized what she might have been kicking away that night. She prefers not to think about it anymore, and cold weather makes her even more erratic than usual.

Losing Yereer-thray was hard for Hrair’eleer’s parents, and they never really recovered from losing one of their kits. They started paying extra attention on Hrair’eleer, who grew up feeling almost praised for possibly causing accidental harm to her sibling. This had a big impact on the way Hrair’eleer started seeing the other rabbits around her.

Pupil

It came time for Hrair’eleer to decide what he wanted to be when he grew up. The overly curious kit decided he wanted to be a Runner, so he could get to hear all the secrets around the warren! And, of course, he was a fast runner to begin with, so why not use it for something? Hrair’eleer started his training eagerly.

It wasn’t long after he had officially become a Pupil, when the next sacrifice for the Omnis was called out: his father. Hrair’eleer couldn’t believe it. Why would the stars want to take away another member of his family? Hadn’t he and his mother already lost enough? When Hrair’eleer’s father was dragged away to be killed, he could only stare in silence. Even as a young rabbit he knew resisting would only make things worse. That night, as Hrair’eleer was comforting his sobbing mother, something inside him broke and he decided to stop believing in the Omnis, and he made sure nobody would ever know.

Runner

Graduating from Pupil to Runner took Hrair’eleer a bit longer than some other rabbits their age, but not too noticeably. If asked, they always said it was because they had to care for their old and weakening mother, but in reality they had just spent more time slacking off and nosing around than training. There was a splash of truth in their story, though; their mother was in fact getting weaker with every passing moon.

The violent death of Hrair’eleer’s father had left their mother in shambles. On the other hand, she felt like the Omnis were all-knowing and their word was the law, but on the other hand she had lost her mate, and there was no getting over it. At first, Hrair’eleer tried their best to keep his mother company and make sure she kept herself fed, but quickly they started distancing themselves from her and let the other members of their warren take care of her. Maybe it was just Hrair’eleer leaving the nest, or maybe they felt embarrassed being seen around a weak rabbit; who knows?

It didn’t take long for the rabbits of Lan-Hraeth to realize their newest Runner wasn’t as trustworthy as they had seemed earlier. Sure, Hrair’eleer was fast when they wanted to be, but they also liked to take detours when taking messages from rabbit to rabbit. One too many times someone had spotted them somewhere they weren’t supposed to be. Nowadays there’s an overall energy of untrustworthiness around Hrair’eleer, but they don’t really mind it. Being alone is just fine for them.

RP events

Hrair’eleer didn’t participate much in the battles between Lan-Hraeth and the valley warrens, but he was present when Chief Valerian was killed and Buttercup Hills assimilated. She mainly fought Owsla Nutmeg, who would later become the next Chief. Hrair’eleer was sometimes set to bring messages between the mountain and their new valley territory, and during one of those trips they wounded Digger Dande’lyan.

Some time after Buttercup Hills was made part of Lan-Hraeth, Hrair’eleer was assigned to mentor a young Muddypaw, Shrimp. Their training did not last long, however - only a moon or so later the Buttercup rabbits had had enough and they were able to take their territory back with the help of Bogweed Woods.

Hrair’eleer’s home is currently very much in shambles due to the latest attack of the valley rabbits. Looks like her warren is now left leaderless…
