Segla

A round and fluffy fox, black with brilliant silver ticking on her head, back, and tail. Her ears, throat, belly, and legs are completely black. Her tail is white-tipped. Her eyes are a deep orange, almost brown. Her ears are triangular. She keeps herself well groomed. Segla carries an ancient wicker basket on her back where she stores her keepsakes, which include a bone comb and a silvery necklace.

As a human, she tends to dress in mostly sweaters and other warm clothes, since she lives in a cold climate. In a modern human AU, she would wear ski gear half the time. Human Segla has dark eyes, hair, and skin, and tends to loosely tie her hair back.

Segla was born to a family of foxes in a set in the high hills near the frozen sea, far to the north of the treeline, where only sedges and dwarf willows grew. Her grandmother had come from the trees, but the rest of her family was from the tundra and knew nothing of the outside world.

Segla and her sisters and brothers grew up in the hills, at the edge of the frozen sea. They were taken over the hill to the sea once to forage, and found the frozen corpse of another fox who'd drowned. A lesson: don't get too close to the waves.

Many moons passed at the edge of the water, Segla and her family growing older, relatives dying and being born, new foxes marrying into the family and others leaving for different lives. When Segla was two a famine began, and did not stop. The snow hares vanished, the lemming nests were left empty, and the rivers ran clear of fish. Her family had too many mouths to feed. So Segla left.

She went south, not quite expecting to survive the trek to wherever she was going but she survived somehow. She ate dead things, saw great tusked beasts whose cries rumbled the earth, and finally found the edge of the forest. Traveling west, she entered Pelik and found a loner who told her of the great Banlet City, so to Banlet City she went, finding another fox along the way. The rest is history.
