Rookie

Rookie's the best certified monster hunter around! Or...at least that's what he wants you to believe. He's a fool, seeing the good in nearly any monster, which can land him in trouble sometimes. He's an optimistic man, believing that if he tries hard enough, he can help out everyone! His silly ways, however, have made him infamous in his hometown, as some wish he took his job more professionally. 

Instead of actively hunting and killing monsters, he decides to take care of them and nurse them back to health, making friends with them. It works out a lot of the time surprisingly, as he treats them either as pets or as equals, depending on how sentient they are of human culture. However, some monsters never learn, and he has had to take care of them "the hard way." He doesn't like talking about doing that, as it depresses him.
