Bloom

While Bloom appears a normal moth, a second glance can point out some oddities to her; namely, in the second set of arms that most common-day bugs of Hallownest lack and the mouth which is quite clearly not very bug-like. Her wings are also not of the typical scales a moth has but of a more, rendering them sturdier and safer than the average moth's. The typical fuzz, as well, is rather frizzled at the edges. Otherwise, though, she appears your typical rosy maple moth, with the dark colored eyes most commonly known amongst those denizens of Hallownest.

Design Notes

• Her edges are always blunted and rounded. Very rarely, if at all, should she have any points that are sharp
• The only mammalian-seeming bit to her is her mouth, which should never be insect-like and with teeth if shown clearly open. While she does not show chitinous plates due to her fuzz, do not draw her with boobs or pecs. It's not an optional design choice.

Bloom's past is hard to place in a linear path, if one is honest and truthful with themselves. Despite her caution, her anxious demeanor, her at times overwhelming kindness, it's not easy to gather together the evidence she provides, or when it all started to begin with. Her distance from her birthplace makes such harder-- not that any documents might exist, to begin with. But, as with all stories, she does have a beginning one can loosely interpret.

Bloom talks little of her past, but what she does drop is significant in and of itself. She lived in a home at the highest peak of Hallownest with her mother and three siblings, and for a while they lived happily. Fond memories she often recounts includes that of Helios sneaking her bits of fruit, or Sunseeker carrying her around on her back. Most fondly are those few memories she shares of her mother, never big things but just enough to paint a vague picture. Strangest of all is how the times seem to advance in her stories, or the details she skirts around; such as never mentioning her connection to the Dream Realm and the Old Light, or what exactly happened to all her siblings. All that is known of that is that some terrible calamity befell both her tribe and land, and she did something... horrible, in conjunction to this.

Current

Nowadays, Bloom travels with her group, whom consist of a butterfly named Eulalia, a firefly named Lustre, a dragonfly named Carnelian, and a vessel named Ember. Despite their differences, they've decided to stick together-- for better or for worse, given the conditions of the lands they must travel to reach the kingdoms they visit. Yet, even before joining such a group, no one is quite sure how her memories have remained intact throughout the time spent in the Wastes. Perhaps she just has a particularly strong will. Perhaps it does have something to do with her strong connection to the Dream Realm. Whatever the case, though, she remains tight-lipped about it.

• Bloom is rather childish and naive, and her optimism in life leads to her recounting memories and the likes in a journal she carries with her.
• She can often be spotted meditating at certain points throughout her travels. Wonder what that's about...
