Maree-us is always ready to help lend a hand. After all, gil is hard to come by when you're cheffing it up every day. Even with his skills in fishing, gardening and hunting, he can't possibly obtain all necessary ingredients in a day. Reagardless of gil rewards, he'd still help others if it's the right thing to do. Besides, he knows he's a big guy and would often use his massive size just to intimidate enemies as to avoid fighting or to have them return items stolen from others.

Even so, Maree-us stays humble. Or that's what everyone thinks. In truth, he's rather self conscious of himself, always second-doubting his skill and intellect. To further push his confidence down, he hates being seen as a brute for just being a big roegadyn. Doesn't help that he is selective mute and thus perceived as cold most of the time. So he tries to make himself look smaller and friendlier whenever possible, keeping his arms close to him and making himself look like a compact shaped-friend.

His Past...

Ma was a traveling blacksmith from a roegadyn city and Da was hrothgar who thought he could best Ma in a match. It was love at first battle. Years later, the two would have Maree-us and Wed-us, Maree-us much younger by 5 years. Between him and his brother, Maree-us looks much like a roe, but his ears takes after his Da's lynx-like cat ears and his face looking more feline with a little kitty nose and whisker markings.

When he was of age, Maree-us decided to follow his Ma's footsteps and become a travelling blacksmith. Through his travels, he encountered Bjonse, a bard who has roped him into many troubles. Though Bjonse brings him nothing but chaos, he appreciates what the man has done in caring and helping him out through the travels. So when Bjonse decided to try out and become sailors, he agreed.

It didn't end well for poor Maree-us, however. Pirates came raiding their ship and has since left Maree-us with the fear of travelling by sea. Though he's fine doing it once in a while, he would prefer to avoid it if possible.

Hence, his trip to Limsa Lominsa has left him once again terrified of travelling by ocean waters. He was seperated with Bjonse and continued traversing the land on his own until his first encounter with fainting from his lowered food consumption since travelling.

Present Day...

In Limsa Lominsa he finds his passion in the cooking guild. Travelling through the different cities just to fish up the raw ingredients or harvesting freshly grown fruits. Along his journey, he would be seen helping others thought it's mostly as he could not say no.

Overworked from his passion and tired from all the travels, it's no wonder that Maree-us would be fainting from the sudden lower intake of nutritient for his veins. It bodes him no good when Bjonse of all people has decided to reenter his life and calls him a "Warrior of Light".

Thought to be a Warrior of Light and having visions with the power of Echo, Maree-us is having a hard time explaining to others that he isn't one, he just haven't eaten properly the past few days but noone seems to bother to listen.

Or more properly, Bjonse has been translating his signs wrong on purpose. Now he's dragged into some kind of organisation when all he wants to do is cook and live peacefully.
