Ealdwine was a small and patient child who, above all else, enjoyed playing the violin. He was (and still is) absolutely fantastic at it. He also enjoyed reading stories, reading lavish fairy tales and cold war torn novels. He spent his entire childhood safe and quite happy.
He spent most of his time with his tutor, or in his room. He had no friends, excluding the connections he formed with stories.
As Ealdwine became a teenager, his kingdom went into shambles. The current king, his father, started a war with the neighbouring kingdom. Ealdwine, being the prince, was forced to lead a troop of soldiers into battle. which also meant he would have to fight.
Ealdwine helped greatly to the aid of his kingdom. However, while in battle, his left arm was horribly wounded. It was so bad, that he had to have his arm amputated. Upon hearing the news, his parents requested he be sent back to the castle. He spent the majority of the rest of his teenage life in bed, depressed.
As Ealdwine turned 20 he was gifted a pure gold prosthetic arm from a local mage. He thanked her, as he finally had another arm. Despite being the prince, and soon to be king, no one really knew he was an amputee, keeping the truth from the kingdom.
