BIC]Quick warning! I don't know if it's teally graphic enough to warrant it but the apperance and part of the backstory contain slightly graphic description so just be warned. Like i said it's not too bad but this is just to be safe in case anyone is a bit squeamish

[BC]Background
[BC]———————
[C]Doyle's parents were both Atlas scientists if the elite class doing speacial research in radiation and its possible weaponization applications. Unfortunately something they didn't count on upon becoming pregnant was their work in radiation affecting their growing child. Thus once he was conceived they were horrified to find he was born with a horrifying mutation that caused the pigment in his skin to be completely drained leaving it a dull grey while the skin itself was hard and scaly which would crack as he grew older. Said cracks turning a angry red color as he aged, with his eyelids turning a angry red color due to the around them . Finally the skin around his face and hands is stretched so thin it's practically translucent leaving those areas nearly white.
[C]Naturally his parents were horrified at this. Bit the rhing that truly nailed the coffin in this situation.. Was the news he'd live. For whatever reason the way his skin hardened and would crack in the future was still elastic enough to not cause any major health issues. Instead he'd grow up deformed and horrid looking. Being among the elite class of Atlas citizens they were naturally mortified at this news given that they'd become the laughing stock among their fellow socialites. On top of this the news of their child and his deformed apperance due to the radiation the parents worked with spread to the Atlas council who immediately shut down the project in fear of such deformities affecting other couples and children.
[C]Absolutely ashamed by this the couple did everytjing thru could to continue their research or at least try and keep their reputations intact. Though it was for naught as they suck all their money into privately funded lrojects that led nowhere cuasing them to become laughing stocks of the Atlas scientific community. By the time Doyle reached his second birthday, his family lived in near total poverty, blacklisted from any and all scientific communities and banks. The situation was so bad that Doyle's mother, who couldn't ever truly comprehend why or how she gave birth to a child such as him, killed herself on his second birthday. Shortly afterward his father was very, very tempted to kill the toddler. But no. He wanted to make the babe suffer for ruining their lives.
[C]Thus the man took Doyle to the one piece of propert they owned. A bunker near the neighborhood of Atlas's elite wjere theu ran their private experiments. He'd then lock Doyle inside and program a simple A.I., one designed to raise Doyle for the next few years of his life, till the point he could support himself before self destructing and leaving the child in complete isolation. After doing this the disgraced scientist would then join his wife in death happy at what his last act would mean for his little monster of a son.
[C]Thus for the next few years his A.I. raised the boy till the age of eight where just as programmed it would self destruct leaving the boy alone. This however didn't bother the deformed boy much though given he never had any other human contact before hand and thus didn't see the A.I. as anything important. As he grew he begsn reading the many, many encyclopedias and textbooks left behind by his parents. Being a naturslly intelligent child he licled up reading relatively easily with a bit of help form the A.I. before it self destructed. Through these literal hours and hours of reading he learned much about not only the outside world but also various such as the grimm, huntsman, science, history and much more. In a weird sense he knew as much as one could know about the outside world but he himself has never laid eyes on it.
[C]As the years climbed on Doyle grew more and more curious about the outside world, he longed to see the sun, moon and stars, the ocean and forests, and most of all people. He lomged for human interaction but at the same time he was terrified to leave the relative safety of his home. After all what if he exited out into a grimm nest? Or a bandit camp? Eventually at the age of 14 his curiosity grew too much too contain while his bravery finally reaching it's peak as he vowed to enter the outside world! Taking things he had discovered over the years that he thought would be important, such as a id with what he assumed was his information due to the age matching up to what he figured his age was, as well as a scroll and various supplies. Still fearful of the possibility of grimm he scrapped some of the technology in the bunker and used it to make a hastily constructed weapon.
[C]Feeling ready he swallowed his fesr and began making his way up through the bunker. Climbing up various levels and making his way as far up as he could he eventually got to the main entrance and climb outnfinally reaching the cool air of Atlas night. Closing the cover behind him young Doyle was absolutely amazed at the beautiful buildings and bright stsr lit sky above him. Noticing not far away from him the sound of music coming from a large house nearby he immediately was entranced and decided to head towards it.
[C]Still enraptured by the sights and sounds of the outside world he forgrt almost completely thst he had his homenade weapon out and that he wasn't invited. But even then he didn't expect the horrified and cruel reactions he recieved upon entering.. The moment people noticed his face and body they screamed in terror running a tthe site of, pushing past him and nesrly knocking him over, others throwing glasses and food at him as they ran. The poor boy was beyond confused and hurt at their words. He had done nothing wrong nor was he aware of anything wrong with him... That is until he looked in a nearby mirror and was shocked at what he saw. His grey skin, which was so much darker and duller than everyone else there, his lips and eyes and the cracks in his skin were all angry red and hideous looking. His face was practically a skull with eyes and a mouth. The world melted around him as only one throught passed through his head. "Grimm..." He breathed out nearly breaking down right then ans there until he heard sirens going off.
[C]Immediately terrified by the sounds and having at least an idea of wha it would mean he bolted running out of the house and tonthe entrance of his home. He could never live up here. Never interact with other humans. He was a monster. He'd never fit in. He was happy in his home. He had his books and he'd be safe and there weren't other peoole to run or scream or throw things at him. Upon reaching the manhole however and trying to lift it up to his mortification it wouldn't budge and mist have locked from the inside. This was the fate his father had in mind for the poor boy. This was why he let him live. To either let him live a lifenof isolation and loneliness till he died alone, or to make it to the surface and be treated like the monster he appeared and fall to despair. And his plan had worked as poor Doyle desperately banged on the cover with his weapon trying anything to get inside. This was the desperate and sad sight Atlas officials found Doyle in as they surronded him. While many wanted to shoot him on sight cause of his apperance the commander had enough restraint to see the boy was not a threat. So instead they detained him and brought him to a holding cell.
[C]Whilst there Doyle was further ostracized not only by the Atlas personnel but by also the other prisoners there! Some of which were even faunus who gave him dirty looks and moved fjrtber away from him. The one group of people he read about who he thought would understand his plight and he was too horrible even for them. That was the entire night for poor Doyle. Dirty looks filled with disgust and fear and crying at the situation he had been born into. The next day a officer pulled Doyle into a interrogation room and questioned him for hours, running blood work on him and conducting various other tests to see if he were mentally stable and fit. Though all through the process Doyle could see the look in the officials eye was begging for him to fail. To be deemed dangerous or a hazard to others so they could lock him away forever. And in all hoensty a small part of Doyle wanted that too. He wanted to be away from the looks, from other people he wanted to crawl into a hole and pretend he never existed. Finally at the end of the tests, much to the officer's disappointment, Doyle had oassed his tests with remarkable scores. Paticularly in his I.Q. test.
[C]From there Doyle was offered a ultimatum. Either be dismissed from Atlas as a citizien due to his apperance and risk life on his own, or due to his parents previous status within the government he'd be eligible to enroll in the combat school of Atlas to train to become a specialist. The latter was a mandatory option however as Atlas was always looking for more recruits and anyone with high ranking family and physically fit was eligible too join. Exile as oppposed to simply putting him in a foster home or something of that nature was automatically not a option due to the disturbance of peace his apperance would cause on a daily basis. And it was clear which option the officer wanted him to choose.
[C]Thinking carefully about the decision Doyle pondered his situation. In all honesty he was a monster. He could never fit in with normal society and he would habe to accept that.. Eventually. That instantly made exile seem like a better choice, less people that way after all. But then again he wanted to live despite the state his body was born in. And if on his own and unable to live among society with no formal training he'd be screwed as soon as a grimm or bandit or even a regular wild animal attacked him. That made Atlas Academy the safer option... Finally making up his mind the fourteen year old chose to attend Atlas and be made into a huntsman. After all.. Perhaps if he spent his life trying to do good then maybe others would come to accept him. Though he doubted it.
[C]Shrotly afterwards Doyle was shipped off to Atlas where he soent the next two and change years of his life in absolute hell. He was mocked and ridiculed by other students due to hus apperance, even the teachers often went out of thwir way to ignore him and focus on the normal students. It got to the point where Doyle decided to do whatever he could to himself. Wearing hoodies, wrapping banadages around himself, whatever he could find to hide away from the laughter and looks fo fear and disgust that plagued.
[C]Eventually as graduation approached and they all bsgan to fill out applications for their school of choice Doyle knew he had to do something. So while nesrly everyone in his class opted to fast track as commanders or specialists in the military he instead made applications for literally any school. Though his hopes were gradually crushed once he got rejection letters from both Beacon and Haven. He expected the same from Shade and was already planning his desertion attempt from Atlas when he was shocked to see he made it into Shade. Immediately packing his bags he left as soon as he was able on the first plane to Vacuo eager to get away from the origin of his misfortune and sadness and ready to hopefully make a new start as long as no one found his secret. A task made exceptionally difficult once he enrolled into Vacuo and joined a team known as EGGZ.

[BC]Appearance
[BC]———————
[C]Due to being born with a genetic mutation Doyle's skin lacks normal pigmentation and is a dull grey. On top of that it's thick and scaly, splitting into multiple red crack like fissues across his body. Also as a result of this the skin over his extremities and skull is pulled extremely thin to the point it's nearly translucent causing his face and hands to appear white while his lips and eye lids are a dark red. His hair is rather thin and colored strae yellow being short but combed back in a somewhat neat way. For clothing Doyle wears anything that covers his body as much as possible and makes him blend in as much as possible. Normally this consists of a drab gray rain poncho with the hood up. Under this he'll wear a dark yellow kong sleece shirt with grey abd yellow gloves. With this he'll wear grey combat pants with yellow tubing and trim along with black combat boots. Finally to top off his look he wears black lensed yellow tripped goggles over his head along with a yellow and mottled desert scarf with his emblem on the front. One last thing to note is that when finding out he'd be attending school in Vacuo Doyle made special modifications to all his clothes embedding them with small ice dust crystals to keep his body cool in the hot desert environment.

[BC]Personality
[BC]———————
[C]Doyle is a very kind, well mannered and intelligent person.. Usually. Due to his past he's extremely shy and anxious most of the time which can translate as being rude or disrespectful to others. But that's not the case whatsoever. Rather he actually has a crippling fear of social interaction and people in general leading also to some anxiety problems. All of which he devloped over the majority of his life in Atlas. If forced to interact with someone he doesn't know he'll usually end up sputtering and babbling incoherently while trying to hide himself however he can. This also means that in general Doyle will try to hide himself in any way possible when in a public space due to not feeling comfortable with sny form of attention on him. This social phobia was so bad it took his team nearly four months to get him to feel comfortable talking with them and another six before they could get him to trust him enough to tell them his history. Finally Doyle is rather intelligent. And by intelligent a near genius able to juryrig almost any mechanical thing together and adept up enough with dust to embed small ice dust crystals into his clothing to tolerate the heat of Vacuo in his rsther heavy clothing. This high intelligence is due partially to the literal tons of books he read as a child as well as rhe isolation he felt in adolescence that resulted in his fesr of human contact. So rather than be comfortable with people or hobbies he's comfortable with books or any activity where he can put his mind to use and its in these types of activities where Doyle is at his most confident and relaxed state.

[BC]Abilities and Powers
[BC]———————————
[C]Doyle outside of his disturbing physical apperance is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable of many technical skills and subjects. Including dust usage, chemistry, engineering etc. He's in short a major bookworm and is capable of using said intelligence in various ways other than schoolwork. He's also a rather observant and skilled marksman given his weapon and is able to deduce both weak spots and what type of ammunition is best to exploit them. Thus making him a fairly skilled tactician
[C]Doyle's aura despite being a garish grey color is fairly average both in terms of it's ampunt as well how he uses it. In other words he has very average aura and basic aura control.
[C]Doyle as stated above is very intelligent. Growing up reading multiple books out of boredom he greatly enjoys just reading and learning new things as a hobby, including putting the things he learned into practice. This includes chemistry projects, weapon upgrades and engineering type things in general.
[BC]Weakness(es)
[BC]————————
[C]In general Doyle isn't paticualrly physically strong, only enough to qualigy a sa huntsman. This is why he designed his weapon the way he did so he could stay as far from direct combat as possible. This also meana that without his weapon he is extremely vulnerable being rather weak physically as well as untrained in formal hand to hand combat. On top of that his phobia of social interactions and extreme shyness makes it extremely hard to communicate in conbat scenarios. This essentially means that his tactical and intelligent mind is virtually useless since he isn't able to communicate any ideas he has and in general he's just very bad at communicating his thoughts or ideas to others.

[BC]Weapon(s)
[BC]——————
[C]Doyle's weapon is called N'ghft nnnogor, which is R'lyehian for dark guardian and was created during his time at the Atlas academy. Because of this along with Doyle's intelligence it takes advantage of the technological superiority in Atlas. That being said it focuses on defense and ranged attacks being a grey circular shield with a small camera on the top that displays what's happening in front of him on the back. In the center of the shield is a extendable gun barrel that via a holographic display on the back of the shield, can shoot rifle, semi automatic and explosive rounds from a dust supply also located on the inside of the shield. Said rounds take different amounts of dust from the supply with rifle taking the least being able to fire over 50 shots before needing to reload, semi automatic being able to fire 3 round bursts for a 100 hundred shot limit before needing to reload and the explosive dust rounds taking the most depleting the dust supply in only two shots.
[BC]Semblance
[BC]——————
[C]Doyle's semblance is known only as Horror. Essentially it allows him to send a pulse of aura in a direction directly facing him up to five meters from himself that can excite the victims pituitary glands upon seeing him. Essentially it allows him to send a wave of fear caused by his apperance to debilitate or distract opponets. However this sembkance does have it's weaknesses and restrictions.
[C]For one it doesn't follow a set guideline for who and how it affects victims. It's effectiveness entirely depends on how the targets view Doyle and his apperance in their subconscious. For instance if he's facing a opponet who is rather cowardly, squeamish or hasn't seen many bad things in their life than it would be extremely effevtive flooring the opponet and maybe even causing them to pass out from shock depending on just how strong their self control and will is. However against opponets who have seen and or done terrible things or just naturally don't fear his appearance much it wouldn't be as effective, only making them falter or shudder at most. Likewise if a person is completely accepting and fearless of Doyle and his condition then as a result his semblance would be completely useless against this person. It completely depends on who he's using it against.
[C]However the effectiveness of his semblance can be improved by a rather... Unconventional way. That is the less clothing Doyle wears the more effective it is likely to be. This is due to the fact that because Doyle's semblance is based entirely on his physical apperance. Thus the more of his body that's showing the more discomforted or fearful his target would be thus raising it's potential effecriveness.
[C]This semblance stems from Doyle's deep seeded belief that his mere apperance horrifies all around him as well as his desire for others whom he doesn't know to leave him alone which is exactly the purpose of this semblance. To either make them run in fright or pass out from shock. This also means that in order to use his semblance to it's full potential he'd have to (via the showing of more skin) be willing to shed his social fear and anxiety to be comfortable in his body and make the fear others have of him into a strength rather than a weakness.
[BC]Trivia
[BC]~~~
[C]Doyle alludes to H.P. Lovecraft's short story The Outsider, being that his childhood bears many similarities too the plot of the story. From living a life of seclusion in a dark prison like home not relizing his monstrous apperance till he escapes and neets other people only to be treated like a monster. The allusion can also be connected due to Doyle's personality bearing many of the traits and themes found not only in the narrator but also the story itself. Also his emblem is made to represent the tower reaching into the sky and moon from the dreamlole sequence of the narrator escaping his tomb from the story.
[C]The name for Doyle's weapon is also derived from the language created by H.p. Lovecraft for many of his stories.
