El

El is one of the OCs most near and dear to my heart,, she’s an air fae and she comes from a very large family (including 5 siblings!) of commoners from the air court! The air court is only accessible to air fae who can fly and it floats! (This is very important!) 

El is an artist who earns money through painting commissions and selling pieces! She has two distinct eras (since she’s part of my dear friend’s AU, which was later brought back with a 15 year time skip!) 

Starting out a younger El, she’s a total hopeless romantic, a bit of a flirt, and quite naive, though not without her own sort of optimistic wisdom! She’s very girlish, wearing poofy, flouncy, princessy dresses, tying her hair into braided pigtails, and she has a bit-too-short choppy bangs that she cut herself! El falls madly in love with a tricky fae called Ducky (a friend’s character! https://artfight.net/character/1561538.ducky-thaddeus-montague), with a very gray history of deceit and trickery, and the two become close, but not in the same way… at a big fae coronation, Ducky gently lets El down, telling her he values their friendship, but she is too good for him and he cannot spend his life trying to live up to her, it wouldn’t be fair to either of them,, El understands, of course she does, she knew that they couldn’t work out, but still, she can’t help her heart breaking, and she clings to him and cries in the ballroom until her friend Ewen (who belongs to @crochetedflower on Instagram!) comes to rescue her from the prying eyes. Long story short, she gets drunk on cream for the first (and last) time in her life, tries to fly home and falls from the sky, then somehow ends up with a duckling (who she lovingly names Ducky Jr. but calls him Junior!) by the time she sobers up! 😆 Ducky and El remain good friends but this event is a catalyst for El and marks the beginning of a slow spiral into depression (not just because her “childish crush” was rejected, but rather the memories it brought up, how it made her really feel the “hopeless” part of “hopeless romantic,” and a culmination of life events!) 

Cue the 15 year time gap, Ducky is happier than ever, married to a lovely fae princess Lilith (https://artfight.net/character/1418714.lilith-hedera who belongs to @tinkendel on Instagram!), and they have an “unofficial” adopted child together! (My little man Tup!! https://artfight.net/character/1302166.tup one of the other OCs that is most dear to my heart!🥹)  El, however, is sadder than ever :( She’s so very happy for Ducky! But she’s fallen into a depression due to a number of factors in her life :( her art is more of a chore than a passion, and visiting Ducky in the land court are the times she feels happiest, but even still, it’s a bittersweet happiness,, she dresses more modestly, with looser, more flowy dresses, and she has more a more mature fringe and keeps her hair in a braided updo!

Lilith and El are friends, and Lilith’s birthday is coming up! El has been working on a birthday painting for weeks that she can’t wait to give her! Aaand then the air court falls from the sky and crushes the land court, including the castle😭 chaos, mayhem, destruction abounds, and El’s wings are torn, her shoulder is injured badly (to the point that she will have to relearn art to an extent!) and she’s lost her hearing😭 but! Tragedy leads to beauty, in this case, because she meets Buck! https://artfight.net/character/2567391.buck They bond through the tragedy (Buck is also blind, so they have to get creative with how they communicate!) and have the cutest most precious wholesome romance ever! 🥹 She adds pink and strawberry embellishments to her outfits, which are a style in between the flouncy princess style and more modest commoner style, with frills and ruffles and lace, but not nearly as much volume as when she was younger! And Junior the ducky is all grown up now! She loves her duck son so very much! 🫶🏻
