Kro Brightside

Kro's past is steeped in pain and loneliness. His parents dismissed him for his defects, his society shunned him and wished for him dead, and his leaders took him to conduct experiments to see if his flaws could be fixed, and therefore see if others like him could be. It didn;t work, and when he eventually escaped during the destruction of his home dimension, he found himself adrift, half dead, in a space between dimensions. He, in essence, hibernated in this space for a majority of his life while his body did what it could to recover and accept the experiments' changes to his body. He eventually emerged in a dimension that was populated by thousands of life-sustaining planets, one of which he would take residence up on. The people there grew to like him well, and know him as a friendly mycologist here to study the natural fungi populations. However, a war broke out on said planet, and he was found by the opposing side, enlisted to work on terrible bioweapons using spore bombs to "win" said war. After it was over, the planet had been radically changed, and he was left responsible with witnessing trhe aftermath of mushroom bombs slaughtering and suffocating all other life on the planet save for the rare safe pockets. With one tiny surviving bubble of native inhabitants and the weight of knowing he committed a genocide upon orders, Kro set about trying to undo his damage. Though with realizing he could not, and had doomed what was left of the population to suffocate slowly to the fungi, he fled in shame. Nowadays he spends his time in a city in northern California, living with his little brother and on the propery of his brother's closest friend. He still ponders the trouble of how to fix that planet, and dodges questions about his past where he can, though the pervasive sense of guilt seems to wear him thin at times, and in turn, he has fits of manic stress and grief. He keeps it under wraps, and often throws himself into his work and what little social life he has to distract himself. His girlfriend, Valentine, does a better job at keeping his mind off his grief and past than she knows, as does his brother. He otherwise spends his time buried in books, or hiking toward the mountains and weaving through the forests, or gardening in the space he can, using his druidic magic to find himself in a veritable Eden in his little greenhouse.
