Aria (pokemon trainer)

used to be a rymesona tab but i never even watched detective pikachu, so now its just a pokemon au in general. their designs basically the same as canon aria even though theyre enrolled in uva academy where there Is outfit regulations n' stuff, but people like penny don't change their outfits so its fiiine

he/they. in this particular au they is used more often than he most of the time but it rlly doesnt matter | age varies a lot in this au but generally 16-25 depending on the "era" we're talking abt. usually defaults to 19, like canon aria does.

recovering from a scene phase which is why they look like that. a lot of their favorite types have bad rep and are considered outcasts, like dark, ghost, and dragon. loooves their mons. buys pokemon merch all the time

favorite type is ghost because i don't dislike literally any ghost type pokemon ( other faves in no particular order are fairy, dark, dragon, normal, grass ) but likes all types to an extent and doesn't really base their team around one.

they travel regions bc of their parents work ( this isnt actually how it is irl ive never been outside of North America lol but Lets Pretend aria leads a more fulfilling life than me bc they arent fully me anyways ), and they catch and have a good chunk of pokemon from all over the world due to that, but are natively from unova.

- probably attended school at paldea for a time / is still attending, as their current ace Is a meowscarada named forsythia. they have a good couple of starters and as a side gig, they breed them and sell them to professors in whatever region they're in at the moment - they don't even intend to do this as a side gig, the profs just refuse to not pay them. .... most of this was developed with talking to pokemon characters and rping with them as aria. in terms of those rps, they're usually in kanto for the first time ever, exploring and just adventuring - they've never fully committed to doing the gym challenge or the elite four thing ever due to anxieties and not wanting to be a champion ( which is sometimes encouraged by Various Protag Champion Characters in said chats ), but in the future they might be unova's champ.

- due to breeding starters a lot they have a lot of starters from all over various regions. they have a shitton of charmanders, sprigatitos, littens, piplups, snivys, you name it, they probably have at least had it once. has probably gotten a shiny at this rate. really just likes to breed pokemon and give them away, or to keep them. also they breed them w a shiny 6 iv ditto #Lmao

main team is meowscarada, empoleon, probably serperior, drifloon/drifblim ( shiny possibly ), zoroark, and the last slot is interchangable but probably scolipede ( bc unovan pokemon i like ) or like, roserade ( pokemon i use very often in any game its available in ) or gastrodon ( same thing, used it a lot in SWSH and arceus. ). oooooorr luxray. - but this changes around a lot bc they catch a lot of pokemon and swap their team out a good chunk. also the meowscarada is lvl 100 bc its based off the one i use in my scar/vi main playthrough, which i Accidentally got to lvl 100 while grinding the pokedex. aria is actually a pretty formidable trainer and very easily sweeps a lot of trainers they accidentally get into fights with ( via eye contact usually ), but they just shrug it off as them being overlevelled and the trainers in the area having way less of fully fledged teams.

- this is canon to main aria too but i havent cared to update their profile - their personality is very sarcastic, lighthearted, laid back, pessimistic, and depressed - they're also flirty, usually as a joke, but if the other person shows genuine interest they double down a lot on it and become more confident, risque, and active with their flirts. they are easily startled and also pretty persistant, sometimes cocky or confident but mostly as a joke or to make them feel better abt themselves. loves poking fun at people in a lighthearted manner. melts at any affection. flirts with danger if the threat is particularly attractive to them, which isn't hard to achieve. any threats given to them will usually just make them get down abt themselves abt how they 'probably deserved it' and stuff.

- they don't really actively... do anything. they're a self-proclaimed adventurer. they wander. they take in the sights, they catch pokemon, they do whatever they want, but they don't really actively get into battles with trainers or have any goal in mind. they just sorta do what they want when they want.

- canonically began to travel a lot more sometime in 2020-2023, or whatever modern times are in Pokemon Years, because they were depressed and wanted to Stop Being depressed. and in pokemon it is presumably much less of a danger to walk outside at night, or to walk alone in general, so they just fuck around and travel and take walks a lot and see where it takes them.

- the places they visit most often are unova ( birthplace, so ofc ) sinnoh ( it was the gen i started mainline pokemon in so i have to tie it in somehow ), paldea ( school reasons likely ), and uhhh. galar/kalos are tied theyve been to both at least once or twice.

they probably don't have legendaries/mythicals but if they did ( and these are all for Bias Reasons, along with explanations attached ) it'd be one of these;

- lunala ( i have no real reason for them canonically having a lunala, but it was my "mascot" for a long time. )

- meloetta ( same as above, "mascot" for a while. plus its way more plausible for them to have a meloetta since its a unovan mon and a mythical thats just sorta... out there )

darkrai/cresselia - once again idk how or why but more plausible since theyre mythicals. and i Do slightly associate w dreams/nightmares. so i mean. ig!

- ig volcarona isnt considered a legendary or mythical anymore. ig it never was, but i always counted it as one, but yea. volcarona. unovan mon. i have one in scar/vi named solaire so they def have one named solaire esp since it isnt even rlly a legendary now.

- miraidon ( paldean shenanigans, although this Does Imply that they beat the league in paldea and did shit w everybody there. which is a little hard to believe. but its plausible, esp since ur just given miraidon + becoming champion in scar/vi is much less of a big feat and its champion ranked not Straight Up Champion + becoming champion is just a school assignment basically in paldea. plus imagine them just taking that mf out of the ball one day and riding them like a motorcycle in fucking kanto. alternatively, the protag in their universe catches korai and sada is the main prof, but theres just a mirai wandering around that they tame somehow )

- mesprit ( i always liked mesprit the most bc its "hair" was like mine. and emotions mon. and pink. plus them having a mythical is much more plausible. )

- reshiram ( bias, reshi is like my third favorite legendary. Once again this implies a lot and idfk why theyd have it but.. unovan legendary. )

- yveltal ( ONCE AGAIN. NO REASON FOR THEM TO HAVE THE FUCKING DEATH BIRD. BUT I LIKE YVELTAL. )

- latios/latias ( more plausible for them to have as theres implications theres multiple in the world + idk i had a latias i forgot the name of ( it was zipline! ) in fuckinn uhh minecraft pokemon mod. and i was playing as mocha there. but same difference. )

- diancie ( nobody thinks of diancie anymore but i used to rlly rlly like it for some reason back in the day + more plausible bc its a mythical )

- mew ( sillyfunny. more plausible than the legends but less plausible than all the other mythicals. i like to think if they had mew its just bc they found it somewhere someday and it connected with and naturally took a liking to them. plus kity... )
