Profile

Zephyr was born in the outer rim of the Varanian Dominion on the planet Hyacinth, where the government doesn't have as much reach, to two wolf canid parents. They raised him under a strict military and academic education, the ways of Aether and tactics, as well as hand-to-hand and ranged combat. His education was regimented at least as much as any Varanian, but he didn't get to enjoy the same quality of life. He and his family lived in a hovel, fighting to earn their food...sometimes literally. He learned to use his skills to help support himself and his family, and despite their hard life, they all loved each other dearly. However, nothing ever ends well on Hyacinth. Pirates enjoy raiding this outer rim planet often, and viciously.

It came to pass that Zephyr's settlement became the target of said pirates. It was a small band of around seven, and they stormed his family's hovel, guns prepared to fire, demanding all their valuables. Everyone (including Zephyr) jumped to action and immediately began trying to defend their homestead, and at first, it seemed to go their way. The element of surprise gave them a small advantage as they brought down half of the crew within the first few seconds, but when the others started firing...Zephyr's parents were both shot dead, and Zephyr himself was wounded. He went berserk and managed to kill three of the four left, before the captain got Zephyr right in the back of the head with his gun. Before he decided to kill Zephyr too, he decided instead to raid the place and wake the remaining living crew, absconding with what little they had.

Zephyr awoke to a harsh reality. With nothing to his name, he had to find the strength to bury his family, salvage what he could from his home and three dead pirates, and figure out how to continue living without the only two people that had ever helped him in his life.

He was only 12.

Somehow, he managed to go on, and he used the skills his late parents taught him to continue to live. A few years later, he came across the same pirate captain on the street, harassing and trying to rob an unarmed civilian. He put him in a choke-lock from behind and suffocated him to death. He was heavily cheered for and thanked by everyone around, but it didn't make him feel any better that he now had his revenge. He did however, get noticed by a local military official. Before he knew it, he was accepting an offer to become part of the local militia to fight and defend against pirates.

Not only was he able to further his combat training to new heights, but they also offered him the chance to have aether circuits equipped to him. He took the offer and after a few days of surgery, he woke up feeling...angry. Angrier than he had ever been. He went berserk...or tried to, if it weren't for the restraints on him. After he calmed down, the doctors examined his new second stage aether circuits, and Zephyr was told that he had developed a spark sickness from the circuits. He would have to figure out how to at least partially control it before he would be let free from his restraints.

When Zephyr learned this information, his blood boiled, and he started to feel the pain from having the circuits installed. He began a massive irrational tirade at the doctor. The longer he yelled, the calmer he felt, and then he figured it out. Just be angry at everyone all the time. Yell at them, be rude, outright hate them, hurt them if he needed to. When he explained himself, he did so with a changed voice, one that convinced the doctors to let him go, and then he shoved the doctor out of the way on the way out of the room. It felt like pure bliss.

A few weeks later, after he fully recovered from the surgery, he learned how to harness his aether into power for the first time. He ended up being able to harness gravity itself, bending it, and the people in the way of it, to his will. This newfound ability led to an accident. While he was arguing with his superior officer (again), he snapped and used his aether to...for lack of a better word, squash his officer flat, armor and all. After examining the puddle of steel, fur, and blood on the ground for a second, he was fired upon by his former comrades, and after sustaining minor injuries, he finished the job, killing the entire military encampment with nothing but his weapon, his wits, tactics, and the power of gravity. It wasn't as large of a military as he thought it was, as it was only a local sector. When the Varanian government did finally get around to investigating, they couldn't find out who did it.

Either way, he didn't stay on that side of Hyacinth much longer. He left his home town behind and wandered the planet, using his skills to earn money. He had become extremely good at killing, and had a temperament to match who he had become. He quickly gained a reputation for being a reliable and efficient gun for hire, rarely ever failing a mission. He used this income to augment himself to be a better killer. Enhanced reflexes, enhanced senses (his favorite being a modification that enhanced his vision and made one eye red, he kept the other blue), addition of an illegal overdrive capacitor, a personally tailored heads-up display that fit his specific needs, and of course, the right tools for the job. He had two weapons personally made for him: one, an assault-rifle styled gun that can accept almost all forms of conventional ammo, and a pistol to match. Both have been augmented so that he could increase the velocity of his shots to rival that of railguns using gravity aether.

Now, a couple of decades later, he has expanded his reputation not only to the entirety of the planet, but also beyond, to the Galactic Federation. He has been known to take jobs from all sides of the law, however, if the pay is right...
