Yumin's mother was Korean and her father was Japanese. Her mother was a Kpop idol and her father owned a huge business in Japan. Yumin and her brother was mostly raised by nannies as her parent's were constantly busy. They lived in Korea with their mother who they would see from time to time when she came home. From time to time her and her brother would also visit their father in Japan.

Yumin always felt distant from her mother and brother due to their shared love of music. She tried to like it as much as they did but she only begun to feel frustrated. So at age 14 she begged to go live with her father in Japan and her mother fought with her over it but eventually let her.

She was scouted by a model agency at 16 when she was just hanging out with friends

She modeled for a few years before her manager suggested she tried acting and Yumin decided to give it a shot. She's now a newbie actress.
